Greetings All!

I am going to ask a few questions as time goes along. I want to do this project right. I would like this GTO to be a dream.

I just purchased a new rear bumber off ebay, it is painted red. What is the best way to prep it for rechroming?

Thank you for your help!

Blaine

Are you sure you need to even bother? I'm pretty sure they are going to be dipping it in some cleaner type solvent anyway prior to plating. Or do they charge extra for that?

Good point. I will have to check on that.

Thank you!

Wa-a-a-a-y back I did a bit of work repairing and preping bumpers for rechroming. We patched bumpers by cutting the rusted portions out, welding new patches in, and grinding / sanding until the bare metal contour matched what was there. Of course, we got the surface as smooth as we could (i.e. a fairly fine grit of sandpaper.

That was it as I recall.
