I’m looking for alternator mounting brackets from a ’70 or newer 455 that are for a power steering car.
The brackets from a 400 might work but am not sure about this. These brackets should tie into the water pump, the cylinder head and the intake manifold and they feature a curved shroud-like piece that goes above the alternator on its left side. I have some pics that I shot at TR but the camera isn’t handy right now.
If you have pulleys too, I’d consider taking those off of your hands too.
I'm sick and tired of mounting bolts breaking and this type of configuration holds the alternator in about seven ways from Sunday

Pics would be good. I just removed my old brackets in favour of the serpentine system. It doesn't sound like my old stuff would fit but you never know.

I have one that fits the description. won't know for sure till we compare it. It's not anything that is used on the earlier years and when I got all that Pontiac stuff there was some '70/'71 stuff intermixed. Who knows.

Yep, I've got one of those brackets hangin in my garage, just like the one in that picture on the orbit orange Judge you posted.

HI Al,
Wow, Really? Is there any chance you'd have a spare pontiac block with heads on it in your shop that you could quickly trial fit it to? I only suggest this because I think you said at one point that your big collection of parts includes chevy and other stuff. I think there are some brackets out there that look similar to this off of Olds, Buick, Chevy but they're not interchangeable. Thanks, Thor

Yeppers, I will get pics today and place on here fer ya, I have a '71 "YS" block, heads and stuff for it. I think just about everything, but it's all dissassembled so just consider it a short block for now. Interested, you can have it all, I need to get it out of the garage, we can come up with a mutual price if interested.

the Chevy stuff is available too, not interchangable though. what I have are four SB intakes, 1 factory dual quad (Corvette), one 4 bbl intake, and two dual quad high rises (1 Offy and the other Edlbrock) Also a Cheby chrome oil pan and 2 sets of finned Edlebrock valve covers that pretty kewl. I can get pics of all that stuff too.

Hi again Al,
I just wanted to make sure that the on the pieces that you have, the bracket holes line up with the holes on a Pontiac cylinder head, water pump, and intake as my understanding is that’s how they bolt on.
If so, we have got a winner 8)
Thanks, Thor */*

Here's a couple pics for you to feast your eyes on. I have the bracket you need and a couple others that I'm not sure if you need or not.

1st, the main bracket, has your name on it if you want. that's the first pic, then I have the power steering brackets of two different designs and then I have another bracket that I have no clue what it's for, perhaps someone can help with that one, that's the last pic for tonight.

Here's another view with what I believe is a non-power steering bracket.

And then there's the unknown bracket, anyone have any ideas?

Who me, have extra engines lying around, Nope, not me. only about 4 of them still.

This one is the HO engine that's going in the HO convert,
then I have a '67 YS spare engine for the plum mist, complete
then I have a '67 ZH 350hp Gran Prix, complete running engine
then I have a '71 YS block and probably everything that goes with it.

Hey, you think this will fit underneath the hood of the '67 HO convertible?

Cut the hood to fit

Cool, I clearly see the shroud like part, looks like the one that holds the alternator in there securely. Do you see a spot to mount up a PS pump as well on the lower right part of the whole assembly?
It's hard to see the part that fits directly between the back of the alt. and the drivers side cylinder head ....and....do you have a sleeve like unit that goes around the long lag bolt that goes into the cylinder head?

Well, I havealot of stuff and as long as I keep enough to put the HO together the rest can be had by others. Any chance that you can bring your car by some itme next week, later part after my family go to England, I'll have time to chase things down a little better for you. They leave Wednesday so Thursday/Saturday/and so on are free to play GTO's It may be easiest to bring the Judge by and see what there is. I have two other power steering brackets with the sleeve that you mention and a multitude of bracket bolts on hand. Though not organized, they're there. Let's put an end to the taking a break every now and then and let's keep him pounding that gavel.

If all else fails you can try www.pmdspecialties.com
He can be pricey but for what you need it should`nt be to bad. He`s located close to me and I could pickup parts for you if need be.

Thanks all that have offered help and / or suggestions on my situation.
I now have what appears to be a complete set of the '70 & later style brackets for a power steering car. Thanks GTO AL for coming through with the set of brackets and it was fun to visit your GTO den and see the HO Convertible too, way cool car!

Now, I hope to kill two birds wth one stone, have a bomber alternator mount system that ain't gonna bust when I punch it plus I can now proceed with the installation of my customized, correctly date coded, WS6-spec worm geared, 2.5 turn lock-to-lock power steering box. Maybe I will put that red and silver rally steering wheel in too. Hmmm, I just may be getting a whiff of a slalom course ....just....around ...the bend

Sure hope it all works for you Thor! I'm sure it will, it's everything on the '70 diagram. Was great to visit and share stories. Now if I can only move the rest of the parts I don't need to make room for the start of the HO restification.

Thor, going autocross? Just like back in the old California days....
Better install a windage baffle in the oil pan.

Yeah, I asked Mr. Bisschop about AutoX and he said the same thing.
If I could manage to lose about 1,000 lbs, I'd consider giving autocross. This car is pretty danged heavy as you know. I do like a handler though
