I’m shopping for a new aftermarket fan for my car. I simply wish to replace the belt driven fan which has been munched by alternator mount bolts that have backed out and taken “bites” out of the individual blades. The munched fan blades look bad now but the engine still runs pretty cool and the cooling system seems just fine.
I’ve picked up a brochure from Flex-a-Lite and they seem to have some good lightweight fan options.
Somebody mentioned an ultra light fan as being a good choice. Lighter, I guess, can be better as long as it pulls air well.
Any thing I ought to look out for besides making sure I get a puller rather than a pusher along with the correct diameter and backspacing? Metal, plastic, aluminum?

FLex-a-lite also makes a "similar to stock" non-flex fan. They also have heavy duty fan clutches too. I installed an electric dual fan pusher fan from Flex-a-lite. It is mostly plastic, thermostat controled, works great but a bit on the loud side. The mounting hardware is not the best but adequate at least. The fan fit perfectly to my stock radiator. I do believe that I run 5+ degrees warmer at crusing speed, probably because of the surface area of the radiator that the fan blocks. When in traffic when it comes on it has done real well at keeping the temp below 200.
