Greetings All!

I have a TH350 that I have no clue to its condition. I know someone who is willing to swap a TH400 that runs and was recently rebuilt. I know little about tranny's yet this straight across trade seems to be in my favor. Any comments?

I guess I would first ask what you're planning on putting the trans in? I installed a T-400 into a 64 Lemans and it required the cross member to be moved back and the driveline shortened. Now if the car you have came with an option of a T-400 from the factory, the swap can be done with factory pieces. Either way you've got a bit of work to do.

The car is a '68 GTO with a 400CID. I believe a TH400 was one of the options offered.

Thank ya!

Yes, you shouldn't have any real problems with the trans install. You will have to find a T-400 driveline, but that should be the only real hitch in the job. Good luck.

Besides the afore mentioned items, depending on what was in there and or what parts you have right now... (yolk on the drive shaft is larger on the TH400 than the TH350, and the crossmember need to move back or a different crossmember, and the driveshaft is usually shorter) the only other thing (besides double checking to make sure it has a BOP bolt patern) will be the kick down switch. Electric on the TH400 with a switch at the pedal or at the trhottle linkage as opposed to the cable set up on a TH350.

Lokar or Jegs etc sells a kit so you could set it up for any application.

Just a few thoughts...

Good luck, should work out well for you!
