Long post gents.....................I just rec'd my copy of Jim Hand's new book, How to Build Max Performance Pontiac V8s. Great work. Mr. Hand is a master Pontiac engine builder with about 50 years of experience with our V8 engines. His son, Tom, did the CD called Silent Power, with 54 different pontiac 455 engine combos on a CD with muffler recordings and flow rates. Anyway, this book is awesome. Many of you know about Jim Hand and his '71 Lemans wagon that does low 11's. This book is a documentary of how to build a bad ass pontiac engine with a low budget using as many factory pieces as possible, or if you have the bucks how to go to the extremes and get (chevy and ford beating) results. He also details how 10 of the world's best pontiac engine builders go about building their top two or three types of big poncho engine combos. All the cool stuff is in here.
Our local pontiac engine guru, Dave Bisschop of SD Performance in Abbotsford, B.C. is was a contributor and his segment features a couple of different varieties of hypo pontiac engine build ups.
All I can say is that the Hand family rocks and this book is a must for anybody that's trying to get more performance outta their pontiacs.
Tom Hand, son of the author, helped me figure out the best exhaust system for my car, he's a cool dude. Get the book, it's awesome. Try PY, Spotts Performance, or BOP Engineering if you want to buy it.
