Our annual Musclecar Meet is coming up this September 18th at Frontier Park in Graham. See the flyer HERE (http://www.northwestlegends.com/media/nwmcm2004.pdf).
We are in need of some help from you. To make this event successful, we need volunteers to help with registration, parking, and we need our announcer. Bob Botkin - you out there? Are you available again to do the announcing?
We need 2-3 people for registration. I'll be there, as will Amber, so we need at least one more. If we'd like to have separate morning and afternoon shifts, then we should add to this number.
We also need 2-3 people as parking guides. We try to keep the cars in their respective "categories" on the field, and we need some help guiding them to the appropriate spot. No one yet is available for this.
We're opening the gates at 8:00 AM on Saturday, September 18th for this event. So our volunteers need to be there just prior.
I know it seems like every month we're asking for help - but it's exactly that help the makes our events successful. Please, if you're not too busy, give us a hand. We're anticipating about 150-190 cars this year - if the weather cooperates.
Thanks again,
Lonnie

The Pacific Raceway schedule says they are hosting the BOP drags on September 18. I thought they were going to be on the same weekend as the BOP in Bremerton (Sept 25).

Ya me too! What's up with this? :? I guess it will be the Musclecar meet I'll be going to.

Yea, this is very confusing. When I went to the Swap meet in Puyallup in Feb. they were handing out flyers and BOP Bremerton was Saturday Sept. 25th. The Goodguys calendar has it as Sept.11. The official Bremerton Raceway Website confirms that is is indeed Sept. 25th.
Pacific Raceways, on the other hand has been rumored to take place in Sept. and I heard October. My Goodguys calendar listed it originally as Sunday Sept. 26, which would have been awesome to have racing at both tracks on the same weekend. Now I go to Pacific's website and they have moved it to Sept. 18, the same Saturday as the Musclecar meet.
We need to get Royal Botkin to straighten this out. We need the racing to be on one weekend as originally planned.
ALL IN FAVOR?

Thanks Ted. We appreciate your help.
Since we'll open the gates at 8:00 that morning, we'll need you there just a moment before that. The front gate is covered - Mike and Wally will be there. But we need at least a couple people at the registration desk and to help people park. As you remember, once you pay your entrance fee, you're let into the gate. But you're not really "registered" yet, since that would create a huge line. So when the person pays, he/she is free to go park. We need someone to help organize the parking so that we can try to keep cars grouped by category - i.e. vettes, GTO's, mustangs, etc.
After the person parks, they can go up to the registration table and officially register. We have two people there so far - Amber and I, but we could really use a third. Technically they don't have to register, but then they won't be eligible to win anything.
Take your pick - parking or registration. We could use you either place.
I think there's a morning rush and an afternoon rush as far as "busy" traffic, but there's plenty of slow time so that you don't have to be at your "post" all the time. Also, if we could double up on each position, then it would be easy to trade off shifts and enjoy the show.
Thanks again, Ted. 8)

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this site. It purports to list every car club in Washington. It may not be too late to either contact some of these clubs or mail them a flyer of our show. I know a few of them don't really qualify but some of the others might not know about it. Anyway, here's the link.

There is also a link to a page of Oregon clubs at the bottom of the page.

Sorry it's taken so long to update you all, but here's where we are to date.
I will be bringing the goodies for the goodie bags to the September meeting. I could use some volunteer help to stuff the 200 bags. I have a lot of material for the bags. I haven't had any luck with possible radio stations doing live remotes, so we need to disguss music at the meeting.
I could use some help getting the word out to the other clubs as far as invites go. I've spent all my time on sponsorship and goodie bags. I will get the final list of volunteers for the meet at the club meeting. If you want to volunteer but can't make the meeting just show up at the meet and find me. I'll be there before 7:30 that morning, but we'll mostlikely need help after 11:00 to relieve the first group at the stations.
Stations are the same as last year -
Gate / goodie bags
Registration
Parking
Music - if we provide it
Ballot count
Raffle ticket give aways
Awards presentation
clean up
Hope to have this finalized before the meet.

Hello,
I know Gary Tischer and took some pics of his two GTO's the other day:
http://www.1-4u-computer-graphics.com/Tischer.jpg
Now, my question:
I have a nice 77 Corvette setup up as a musclecar.
What class would I be in at the:
"18th Annual Northwest Musclecar Meet"
What classes do they have to choose from?
Awards?

Jack, it is a popular choice vote, there is a class for Corvette, Chevrolet, & '75 & newer musclecar that technically your Corvette could place in.
It's up to the voters as there are no judges. First & second place awards for each of the respective categories. It appears you could qualify in 3 classes.
Have a great day with your cool Vette. 8)
Nice pic of Gary's GTO's.

Thanks for your fast response Mark!
Okay, what class would you recommend I enter in?

Jack,
well it gets even easier. All you have to do is enter the car & post the registration number on the dash.
The voters (you included) go through the show & vote for their favorite cars that would/could qualify for each respective category.
When the ballots are turned in, the ballot counters add up the votes & move forward towards the announcement of awards.
I guess a guy has a better chance if his car qualifies for multiple categories.
What really matters is you enjoy the day checking out all the bitchin musclecars & the showers are minimal.

Yeah, those were some neat pics there.
I wish I would have gone, but when I went out that morning to go, I discovered my window wouldn't roll up
Motor went bad I found out later.
So, it was raining much too hard for me to go.
Anymore upcoming Cruise In's or shows anywhere or is the season over?
Come to the BOP drags and car show saturday at Bremerton raceway !
See some tasty GTOs doing wheelstands

Nice job on the pics, Lonnie. I've sent many folks to check it out.
I know this is a little late, but I just wanted to say thanks to all of our sponsors for their help in putting on this years show. There's a lot more that goes into putting on a show like this than most people realize. I also want to thank the following folks for their help in the rain last Saturday during the meet. The Legends and the rest of the participants very much appreciate your help -
Brad Barrie - The awards guru... Brad, you're the man.
Amber Engen - Registration and ballot counting queen.
John and Jim Bozony - Sound system and P.A. dream team.
Steve Martin - Parking majician
Denny Deal - Club president and utility infielder
Wally Santella - Registration and Club greeter... everyones friend
Lynden Jackel - Gifted photographer of beautiful cars
John Pearson - Heart and soul of the Northwest Legends
And last but not least Lonnie Santella my kid brother Web master and club historian in the making, whether he knows it or not. None of this would be possible to see without his never ending work. Lonnie you are my hero.
Thanks to all of the Legends and everyone else who braved the elements to support our club and our meet. Hope to see you all next year.
