Drag Racing @ Madras Dragway

Hello,
I am an associate of the newly formed assosiation called Madras Drag Racing Ass. MDRA. A group of racers decided to get together and see what we could do to improve the quality of racing @ the Madras dragway. The track has been in desperate need of basic maintance for several years. We are here to address that problem and make improvements that are long past due. We are looking forward to many more years of Quality racing in Madras. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have reguarding the track. We will be posting information and the progress of the improvements to the track as things get rolling. We are very excited about the improvements we are going to do in the near future. Improvements scheduled for this spring will consist of new shut down surface, turn around lane and improvements to the return lane. new surface to some of the pits, new burn out box and repairs to the track to get us on board for this year. We are having to work closely with the City and have to deal with some politics as the track is leased from the ciy-county Everyone will be a winner when we get started with the first phase of the track improvement to the Madras drag Way!! On the 18th of February we were notified by the city to be at their meeting on the 25th to present a lease agreement. This is what we want to hear and from there we can start to put our projects in motion. Phase one will be the items decribed in the previous message. We have already built the time ticket booth and proceeded to purchase guard rail but we will still need 500 plus feet to finish the guard rail project. If anyone out there has a lead on this material please let us know. We will have a simple web site up ASAP with contact information as soon as the lease is finalized.

We have been busy with all that is involved with taking over the Madras Track. The asphault work is scheduled for next month. We have the timing system orded from porta tree and should be here in a few weeks, this includes the professional event tree {NO LED BULBS}. we are gathering materials for the guard rail and have many other things happening.

It sounds like you guys and gals won't go hungry on your Tiger run weekend. If we get enough positive response we will come up with a breakfast menu {Sugar frosted Flakes}? ;D.
According to health codes we can't bring in food already prepared or Pizza would be a great choice. We will be serving 1/4 bugers and 1/4 hot dogs at our regular races and have a nice assortment of condiments for them. We thought a cup of Chilli might be a good idea to. Right now we are working with Pepsi for beverages. We are excited to have you visit our track and enjoy our improvements. The Timing system should be on an Air plane today and we will pick it up in portland in a few days. We are doing our best to have the track up for the first test and tune on the 19 of April, with a little luck and some help from mother nature we will get it done.
