View Full Version : TV coverage of the Musclecar show

My apologies! The PAX Network's Seattle affiliate has pre-empted this week's (10/29) broadcast of the Musclecar Show and rescheduled it for broadcast on 11/5. The VINTAGE VEHICLE TV SHOW has been pre-empted for the past two weeks so it could happen again next. I'm moving the show to KHCV 15/45 next month (Sunday mornings 8:30 AM) so worst case is that the Musclecar Show will not air until next month. My contract with KHCV does not allow them to pre-empt the show.
My shoes have finally dried out from the day of shooting the Musclecar Show in the rain.

Interesting too is that they've pre-empted the show for an infomercial. GRRR!
Thanks for letting us know!

In addition, since next Friday night the 5th of November is the last spot for Lance's Show on this network, we should expect it to get bumped as well. Lance has let me know that our show will be the first show that airs on his new network (for comcast viewers that'll be channel 15, for others, channel 45) our show will air @ 8:30 AM (Sunday Morning) on November 7th, 2004. So don't stray too far from that TV.

Hmmm, what channel is it for Millenium Digital Media/Cablespeed folks?
There are some of us out here that have this as our cable provider
If you are not sure about the channel, maybe you could share with us on what network is the show to be aired
Thanks,

Al ... you should have been watching tv instead of playing with the computer... The show was reaired at 8:30 this morning. Just like it said a couple posts ago.. Looks like you were posting at that time... The show was pretty good and the cars looked great as usual.... JP. makes a pretty-good spokes person!
Great job Guys !!!

Pretty good show actually. We gotta do something about JP's legs though. Get him to put some pants on and maybe we should take up a collection to replace those darn sandles. Yeesh!

Maybe we can get a gift certificate for JP for the fake beach, so he can have the Paris Hilton tan look. 8) Also needs some color in the hair.

Kendall - I too would love to have a CD. I also taped it, but I am sure your digital copy is much better. Let me know how, where and how much.

I'm down for one too, Kendall. Let me know what you need from me. I'd also look into streaming a couple portions from this website.

I can burn to DVD if you want, I would need a digital copy of it. By the way what about copyrights, do we have blanket permission to copy this? If we can I would more than happy to burn the DVD for anyone that wants one.

For some reason my post didn't make it here.
I've edited the show that I recorded off PAX and it is now approx 25 minutes and 220Mb. It is in Windows Media format (.wmv) and may have DivX compression but I don't think so...
I must confess that I'm not completely happy with the sound quality, but I haven't seen the video taped version that was given to us by TVVS to compare it. It could be that PAX just isn't running their levels right.
Lonnie - Can we host that much on the NWL website? I took a quick look at web file services and while they're not that expensive, I'm uncomfortable with the open-ended agreement they want you to enter in to.

Mark,
I believe that we can make as many copies as we want for club use but that we can't sell it or distribute it outside the club...
Is that right guys?

If we have permission maybe we can make a digital copy of the video that was supplied and put it to DVD. I can take it from Super VHS or VHS to Digital tape then to hard drive and DVD. I would do that for the club members, maybe have it ready for the Banquet in Dec. My way of giving back to the club. I have no way to print on the DVD's though for pro looking labels yet.

We are allowed to make copies for club members only, that's our agreement. The type/quality of the copies is irrelevant. I think we're only getting a VHS tape from Vintage - I don't suppose they're going to supply a DVD. We already have the VHS tape. We are free to create DVD copies from it, provided we have the tools to do so, which we do.
Kendall - we have slightly under a gig left here, with no agreement restrictions.
Let's make the best quality DVD that we can - so Mark, if we supply you the master VHS, you're saying you can create the DVD's? The deal is, each member would supply you the blank DVD so your material cost is eliminated. ??
Mark B
11-09-2004, 07:42 AM
Yes Lonnie, I can create the DVD's. I could pick up the blanks and then be reimbursed for thier cost if that makes it easier, or the club could supply a stack of blanks. Either way works for me. I would need to know how many to make.
Mark B

Update..
I have decided to pick up a printer for printing the DVD's, so the blanks should be printable inkjet type.
LonnieS
11-10-2004, 01:18 AM
We'll decide as a club if we want to go ahead and front the expense of blank DVD's for all who want one. We'll need a estimate cost. Originally we figured on everyone who wanted one would provide their own blank DVD.
Mark B
11-10-2004, 09:00 AM
Let's make it easy, I'll pick up the blanks and those that want one can let me know and just reimburse me for the cost of the blank. If there is only a few, it isn't a big deal, but if it gets to be a lot, then reimbursment would be nice.

I also would like a copy, and would be happy to reimburse you! :D

Same here, would very much like a DVD copy. I'll gladly reimberse for one of your blanks. In the mean time we'll explore the possible of the club picking up the tab. We can ask the membership at the banquet.

So I guess the question is, do you want a downloadable version or do you want to wait for the DVD.
Personally, I'll commit to a DVD myself but I do have this one available if people want to watch it now.
Lonnie - As the webmaster, you've got the final say on what the site hosts. (in the absense of a club meeting to discuss the matter.)
Let me know what you all decide. I'll keep this version till I get my DVD version.

That's a good price. I have been looking online for the printable type, but no luck yet in the limited time I spent looking. I'll look at Fry's and CompUSA when I go to buy the printer, and see what I can find. We want the DVD+R type, and inkjet printable, they are more compatible with home DVD players. Even then some of the cheaper and older DVD set top players can't read a PC recorded DVD. I also have a buddy that owns a computer store, I will check his wholesale suppliers, (I can buy at his cost) but the big chains usually have a pretty good price if you buy in bulk. Buying in bulk is one reason I suggested I pick up the blanks, if you just buy a small pack, or one, the cost is higher and all the different brands would make life harder. The cost on these I wouldn''t imagine would be over a couple of bucks each or so and probably less. If someone would supply me with the club logo I could overlay it on the label picture.
Lonnie, if you have the master tape, I guess we need to coordinate for me to pick it up. We need to start a list of people that want one so I know how many DVD blanks to get. I will buy in 50 or 100 packs, to keep costs down.

Add my name to the list.

I just picked up an Epson R300 printer to print the labels, (I love new toys) :D and also picked up a 100 pack of printable DVD's. The DVD's were $89.99 plus tax for a total of $97.91 so if we add 2 cents or so for the ink how about a buck a piece? Like I said if there are only a few I don't care about reinbursement, but if the list starts growing, which it looks like it might, then it would be cool.
If someone would keep track of names for copies, it would help.
Lonnie, if we can meet up this weekend (Sat preferred) I can get the ball rolling. I think you have my email addy and phone number. Maybe meet at Bison?
If anyone wants one before the banquet, maybe we can arrange something for that too?

Mark I'm in for a copy as well. We should pay some extra to cover your time and costs and perhaps swell the club's coffers for the future. Add in a slide show of members rides and other past photos and charge $10.00 each....
Mark B
11-15-2004, 09:42 PM
My time will be donated to the club. I thought about adding photos of the winning cars, maybe more at the end as a bonus feature. This would depend on space of course, I am not sure how long the video is yet. I'll let Lonnie or the club decide if we put the pictures on. As far as the money, costs for supplies is all I ask. I am developing training DVD's and have been putting them off because I didn't have the time to set up equipment, so this gives me a little incentive to get rolling. Plus I have a bunch of wedding tapes that I produced a few years ago that they now want converted to DVD when I get a chance.

Just talked to Denny (the Prez.). We are go for reimbursements for each DVD used. But we're going to hold for a couple days on making the copies because Lance said he'd send a master DVD of the event. This way we can make copies of the original DVD rather than making copies from a VHS recording.
So Mark, when I get the master DVD (in the mail) I'll bring it to you. Each person that has requested one on this thread will get theirs, as well as any additional members who want one. The club will reimburse the cost of each 'used' DVD.
Sound good?

Sounds good to me Lonnie. I should probably meet you somewhere, I am rarely home. I am doing a remodel job in Parkland, so if you live between Seattle and Parkland somewhere I can pick up the DVD. Or, I can meet you somewhere at your convenience.

I'd love a copy, and will gladly pay for it! So if it's possible to add me to the list, and then maybe post info on how to get the DVD's once they are ready in this thread etc?
Or just keep everyone posted?
I Hope even a Firebird guy can participate? I was going to wait to officially join the club until I finally got another GTO, but it seems like that may take a while... so I guess I'll have to officially sign up soon huh?
Thanks - Brett - 67 Drop Top 455!

As soon as they are done I will make an announcement. I waited for years to join, saying I was waiting to get another GTO, but I figured joining was one more way to find the one I am looking for. Now there is one more reason to be a member. :D
