Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(January 8, 2005)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:14 pm by John Pearson, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave Secretary Report. Last month’s minutes were summarized, details posted on club web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
No Treasures Report was given at this January meeting. Lonnie Santella, the outgoing Treasurer and Amber Engen , the newly elected Treasurer were both absent from this meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
Wally Santella presented Denny Deal with a gift from the Club for he and his wife Geniva to enjoy – a Dinner for Two at the beautiful Palisade Restaurant in Seattle. Denny was recognized for his leadership in 2004, were Denny, his officers and fellow members brought about the following enhancements to make our Club a more interesting and rewarding experience:
- The membership was increased to 121, with the addition of 13 new members in 2004.
- Two car clinics were established, a Spring and Fall Car Clinic, wehre a club effort was conducted to help repair other club members cars.
- The idea of an inter-club picnic was established, with the inaugural event of the Annual Goatherd/NW GTO Legends Picnic, which was held in August of 2004.
- A 50/50 Club Raffel was established to add a little pizzazz to our Monthly Club Meetings.
- The Annual NW GTO Legends Muscle Car Show for 2005 was moved to Issaquah in an effort to improve attendance and to upgraded the quality of our food and beverage combinations.
- The Club’s By-Laws were upgraded and made available to all of the membership by posting them to the Clubs’ Website.
John Pearson reminded the membership of the newly elected officers for 2005:
(1) President – John Pearson
(2) Vice President – Gary Tischer
(3) Secretary – Wally Santella
(4) Treasurer – Amber Engen
Wally reviewed the Member of The Year Award criteria with the membership and identified John Bozony, Pete Cossette, John Pearson, Gary Tischer, Brandon Warren, Brad Barrie, and Amber Engen as finalists, and Michael Santella as this years winner.
Since the 2004 Member of The Year Award winner, Michael Santella, was not at the Award Banquet in December, Denny Deal made the formal presentation of the traveling trophy to Michael. The Trophy will be updated to include Michael’s name.
Denny will present Special Recognition Awards to Lara Majors and Amber Engen, and a Certificate of Appreciation to Mike of Bison Creek at February’s meeting, or whenever these individuals are present in the future.
Denny suggested to the membership how important it is to continue some of the club events that were initiated last year, including the two Car Clinics, the Greenwood Car Show, and the Goatherd/NW GTO Legends Picnic. The membership agreed and it was expected that the Board, at their next meeting, would fit these events into the Clubs 2005 Calendar.
Denny sold $225 worth of Club T-Shirts and Sweat Shirts at the January meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mark DeCosta raised the idea of having a summer cruise in July or August to his place on Vashon Island. This idea was met with a lot of enthusiasm by the membership and more planning and discussion will follow at future meetings.
Brent West made the suggestion that we do a drive-in movie event this summer. More discussion will follow on this idea.
Brent West made the important suggestion that a joint-effort, involving a number of car clubs to put on an all-around muscle car show with the proceeds going to Tsunami Disaster funds. Specifically, Brent would like to target aid to the children, so the proceeds would go to UNICEF. The motion was raised and passed by the attending membership that the NW GTO Legends participate in this effort. Four members, Wally Santella, Mike Santella, Steve Martin, and Denny Deal volunteered to work with Brent to put this show together. Brent will contact other clubs and show areas, and get back with us on proceeding with plans, tasks and activities.
50/50 Raffle was held and Bob Weiss won.
