It was great to see everyone at the meeting. Nice to see the GTO's out also. Many thanks to Mark D (THE REV) for tossin' me the keys to his new '05 GTO. As I sat there idling in the lot the guys were having me rev it up, and it sounded real good as 4500 rpm went by. I rolled out to the street with the traction control OFF (sorry Mark I have to confess), I stomped it from a roll and it raised up immediately and launched hard with a quick shift to 2nd at 5800, I kept the gas down and boy it responded. Then off the throttle it snarled back down to a comfortable pace. Of course I needed to do this a few more times to confirm everything.....Yep, this car hauls ASS. 400 HP to the rear wheels, is just right. Mark, invest in a Radar detector my friend.
I must say it was cool to compare G.T.'s red '04 to the new GTO of Mark's. Both, plenty of horspower, very impressive. I have to mention though that the '05 has a much more aggressive tone to the exhaust note than the '04. As G.T. was making pass after pass in front of the Creek, powershifting, layin' rubber (thanks Gary) I got a good sense of the beast. Then as Mark's car left, it was like it had Flowmasters. Those huge true dual tips sounded very cool. To end the evening, Bill another member left the lot in his new '05 Mustang GT. Great looking, and sounding car too. MUSCLE, It's all good. 8)
