Hey Brett, That does look look like a nice car. I contacted the owner for a friend of mine that is lookin' to buy it. The owner says he bought it from the org. owner (a lady) about 5 yrs ago. Says Dutter rebuilt the engine 15k ago. T400, drums around, never wrecked. org radio that works. He also stated the car was purchased new with the baby moons. I asked about PHS documentation and he did not now what that was...Do you think the car is worth 12K if all is true? Could She have bought it with baby moons? I think its worth it but do not want to steer my good friend wrong. Mike

The baby moons would not have been factory, but could have possibly installed by the dealer? Most likely by the first owner.

But it would be a good idea to get the Tag info, VIN and get the PHS yourself
before the purchase... that's what I'd do... if I had the coin that is... Lol...

Yes, if all checks out, it should be worth a good sum, but I'd still try to talk them down... and cash talks. I'd say if it all checks out that it may be worth around $10K quite easily. But then again, it all comes down to what it's worth to you (or your friend) and what the plans are for the car? Investment, or to keep and enjoy?

Personally, I plan on keeping mine, and look at it as priceless... but that's just me? Many have to look at it more realistically, and have to think about resale value...

But well worth checking into!

Thanks Brett, We did what you suggested... It is a true 400 car built in August '67. All the # matched. A beautiful virgin and early Bird for sure. It needs paint. The wheels apparently did come from the dealer. We got 3 of the spoke hubcaps that are supossed to be on the wheels. The car was sold to a employee's daughter for her 16th birthday. The guy selling paid $10K 5 yrs ago and had the motor rebuilt and the suspension, body mounts, etc. Even new leafs. He moved to a trailer park in Oly and no inside storage for her. So he did the right thing an sold the car to us. While there I saw 6 cenerline wheels and 6 T/A radials. 2-275/60-15, 2-225/60-15, and 2-245/60-15s. All in like new condition, $200 bucks! I couldn't get my hand out of my pocket quick enough! Needless to say My '69 GTO is sportin' some new skins tonite!. Thanks for posting that '68 Bird!

Congrats! Glad you got the details... and in the end got the bird!
Hey, if you don't end up needing all the tires, would you want to sell 2?
(obviously you'll need 4...)

Anyway, great job, hope to see it at some point! Where are you guys located?

Congrats! - Brett!

Brett, I think your rear fenders will cut the tires. That's why he couldn't run 'em. I don't plan on the rear ones lasting that long if you know what I mean. So I want to keep all. I finally got my YS 9.2:1 motor complete so I can save the org. from my lead foot disease. I hope to drag her in stock classes with you guys this summer (if I can get away from my yacht repair biz a little). My friend says thanks again for posting. He had a '69 350 2 barrel car that needed restoration he sold it in one day for $3500. So his net cost was $8500. for the '68 400 Bird. I live in kenmore and Dave lives in Normandy Park. Maybe I'll see you Saturday. Mike
