I am beginning the search for volunteers for Rainier Run 2005. The date this year is July 23, 2005. The club has voted to run the route backwards this year. Start in Orting (mexican breakfast?) and end at Art Gamblin Motors in Enumclaw (BBQ or Mexican?) I am looking for people to help out - check point people, someone to push flyers everywhere, someone to coordinate volunteers, and someone to do the Orting to Enumclaw backroad route. I hope to drive Rainier Run this year as the '66 is DONE. (Thank you Gary - he did an awsome job!) If you are interested in helping out with the run please call (360) 893-4252 or email me at angusshops@hotmail.com

Lara, not to make waves here, but I think the club voted they wanted Rainier Run...not so much that they wanted to finish at Gamblin Motors. If it is as hot this year as it was last year, you me and everyone else would prefer the cool shady grass of that park we finish in, there in Orting over a hot asphalt parking lot....Gamblin gets the better end of that deal, not the Rainier Runners. I love Rainier Run and I like the way you and Gary give the goodies away to the winners from that Gazebo in the park. You may want to re-ask that question at a future meeting.... Just my 2 cents....
66 pics please!!!

How 'bout some real entertainment Flying Tiger? Dress in drag instead of driving drag. I've got a couple of old pics of gals wearing tiger striped miniskirts for ideas !

Brad, that would work only if you weren't planning on registering and playing the "poker hand(s)". There's one check point before the cars get to Morton. You'd be missing out on some great fun but I understand the distance. I guess you'll just have to get the rooster to crow early so you can be there LOL ;-)

I can't wait to see the LeGTO rag.

Brad,

If you thought you might possibly make it to Orting for the start, I would suggest coming north through Bucoda to Tenino to Yelm to McKenna, East on Hyw 702, North on Hyw 7 for about 3 miles and right at Johnson Corner, cross over Hyw 161, through Kapowsin to Orting.

Well, that is my way of traveling between Centralia and Orting. It is a nice drive and not very much farther than the trip to Morton.

Rainier Run is getting closer. Sponsors are starting to send gift certificates. Volunteers are starting to line up. The run could still use more volunteers. Some check points still need to be filled. If you want to help out (please) contact Kendal, or see me at the next meeting.

Rainier Run is comming up fast!
I am excited about seeing everyone come out to this great event. I still need 1 to 3 volunteers to man checkpoints. Mather parkway needs one more person, and if we want an extra card this year the "Enumclaw" checkpoint at Art Gamblin Motors needs 2 people. If you would like to help out (please) let me know at (360) 893-4252 - as I do not check my e-mail very often. The more volunteers the better the run.

We have a lot of great raffle prizes this year.
Pre registration is available but not necessary - I will see you in Orting from 9:00 to 11:00 on July 23.

Thank you everyone who came to Rainier Run 2005. We had a lot of Legends as well as a lot of first timers. Thank you to all the check point volunteers. This year the weather even cooperated it was in the low 80's and not the high 90's. If you took pictures I can not wait to see them. I hope every one had a great time.

Dear Northwest Legends Members

I have really enjoyed running Rainier Run for the past 4 years. Each year we have been able to make a profit for not only the club but also donate to the Pediatric Interim Care Center. Our 3 years of donations come to $1235.00. The run is gaining quite a following not only of club members but of outside visitors as well.

At the end of the 2005 run I had to make a very difficult decision. I will not be continuing as chairman of Rainier Run 2006. It has been an honor the past 4 years to help shape Rainier Run and get it on the “map” as an exciting event. As the run has gotten bigger and more involved it is beginning to take a toll on my family. I need to step back, re-group and make sure that my priorities are in the proper order.

Thank you to the people who have volunteered over the past 4 years. Without your help this event would never have gotten off the ground.

I would love to see a new person step up and chairman this exciting event.

THANK YOU Lara, for all the work you've done on the Rainier Run for the club and everyone involved. I for one have seen the hours you've (not to mention Gary too) put into this event behind the scenes to make that one of the best events I've ever seen. You're shoes will not be easily filled when it comes to doing what you did on this, I hope someone will be able to jump up and take the bull by the horns and "get 'er done" You deserve a break, enjoy it. Again, a grand THANK YOU for Rainier Run!
