Senate Bill 5397 calls for a change in vehicle emission standards that resembles that of California. It’s waiting for Senate hearing on Tuesday. Please write your Senator and tell them politely your opinion on this bill. You can also call 1.800.562.6000 to tell them how we feel about this Bill.

In a nut shell, what is the impact on us up here in WA?

If I understand it correctly, it will only effect new car emmissions and only after 2009. There will still be the 25 year rolling exemptions for vehicle emisions. This may be the begining of more to come though.

It may also mean that when California changes it's laws, ours will have to be reviewed for compliance. (We'll be chasing the California rabbit.)
