I'm not sure what you're looking for but unfortunitly you won't find much in the classic Pontiac section worth rebuilding in the 0-800 range. I'm sure you've been watching the 'under $1000' cars in the newspapers. There's also a couple auctions that you can get a reasonable car in your range. Ehli is just one. http://ehliauctions.com/index.php

Also, a car worth a thought which is real inexpensive and fun to drive are the mid 80s Mustang 5.0 manual trans cars. I just picked up a mint condition 1984 Mustang GT350 (limited edition 20th anniversary car) for $2500 but I've seen "runners" in the less than a grand range. Just a thought. I know the GT350 (5.0 engine, 5spd manual) is fun to drive. It's not to powerful but will definitely break the tires loose anytime I want it to. For you at Senior in high school age, the mid 80s Mustang LX 5.0 wouldn't be to bad for insurance either.

If you're really wanting a Pontiac though, they're out there in your price range, I just picked up (actually drug out) a '69 LeMans, not worth restoring but had spare parts and the price was right on that car. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could find a used Aztec for about $500 LOL Just kidding.

Good luck finding that right car.

if you want a pontiac i have a 67 lemans I might let it go for 800.00 no less, it's restorable needs motor and trans which i might be able to donate. i've decided to keep it and had plans for it and actually moved the car from my house to my brothers house and gave it to him but he might let me sell it. let me know.

The 5.0 Mustang is a good suggestion. Another idea for a low buck ride would be to get an older s-10 pickup and drop in a SBC. It will probably be tough to come by a classic pontiac in any sort of decent condition in this price range unless you stumble across an unbelievable deal.

I don't know your situation but finding a car for $800 probably won't be a problem if you are patient and flexible, but keep in mind that the purchase price will probably end up being only a small portion of what you will need to put into it (especially for a car in this price range).

I think LemaGoat's '67 LeMans would be a good start. And here's another thought... Here's a someone that may be a new Pontiac fan and the more the merrier. Good PR for the club if we could help him out.

Here's a dirt cheap 60's poncho:

I'd go with the '67 Lemans over this car, though - lots more potential.

If I get around to pulling it, I may be able to come up with an ST300 for the cause if a tranny is needed. Supposedly works okay but has been parked 20years or so and leaks a bit - I guarantee the price is right, though!
