A beautiful Friday night it was. Java Hut in Langley B.C. was packed with cars. Fair amount of rubber laid down, cause there were no coppers to be seen. Seen some new cars not seen before, especially a 1964 Bright Orange Dodge with a set of wheelie bars out the back, very nasty. Also a 55 - 56 Vette that looked like something John Force would drive. Every Friday night folks weather permitting. Yahoo Summers almost here.

Man that's awesome. I was thinking about the Java Hut last night sitting at the small cruzin in Lynnwood with my Judge. I'll be up soon sometime.

Java Hut sounds great.

I'll be making a few noon departures at work this year, heading north on a few Fridays.

The Hut is da shee-it.

Cool Beans, I'm hut-bound a few times this year too.

However, those folks at the actual Java Hut itself could stand to learn a thing or two about making good coffee. Our HoleShot sometimes-mobile espresso system, using hand built italian machinery, blows their doors off with rich, delicious, shots every time. Naturally, we think it's a combination of very high quality coffee beans, good hardware, and user technique

My experience is that the barista had more to do with how well I enjoyed my cup of java!!

Where are those places at in the Puget Sound region? I remember the Burien car show, Big Daddy's in Auburn, and another place out in Covington. Are any of those still going on? A friend mentioned that Burien still has gatherings on Saturday nights during the summer but thats about it. We need Sonic drive-in's!! Down in the Southwest those are the happening places for cars to go.

There is a cruise-in up here in Snohomish (south) in the Albertson's/McDonalds parking lot. It's on Highway 9 just North of 180th. It starts about 4pm and goes till dark/cold/rain on Saturday evenings.

Curious to know, what happened to the scene I remember? Late '80s early '90s Federal Way area had a huge scene, the Burien SubShop was packed regardless of weather, Big Daddy's was a mythical place that had an awesome display of cars, and yes, dare I say it here, South Park area was packed late at night on both Fridays and Saturdays with very fast muscle cars. Where did they all go? Did people sell them, wreck them, grow up, grow old, buy Civics with wings and fart can mufflers, what?? I dont understand how a mass abundance of muscle cars, street rods, and barely street legal cars just up and disappeared? I still have mine but whats the use. Drive to the drag strip then home. Drive to a car show once in a blue moon then home. I am tired of reminiscing about the good ol' days. Any one want to stop by and look at my new paper weight?

Wow! Dude, hope your feeling better soon! Unfortunately I'm certain that entropy has taken it's toll on many of those vehicles you remember. More likely though is that the hosts of these events have stopped appreciating our patronage and stopped encouraging us to show up. It also doesn't help that periodically you get a car owner that is so paranoid about their vehicle that they make the meet difficult for people around them.

Bill, Yes. I am talking about Clearview.

Big Daddy's in Auburn died when they started construction of the new library just north of the Drive-in. Parking declined imensely, and the people at the lumber yard would chase the rods away until they closed for the evening. Basically you could get about a dozen cars in there, and the rest just had to drive by. And, Drive by they did, down to Puyallup, and out to Covington.

Can anyone list some of the places to go? I had been out of the state for awhile and, obviously, way far out of the scene. Since I have been back, somewhat puzzled on what happened. All-in-all if there are cool hang out spots like the Java Hut in BC, but only in the Puget Sound region, please let me know and I will keep my LeMans instead of selling it for a hybird car (egad, did I just think that?!)
