I have a 1969 GTO with a 1970 400. It wont start now... We took the car to a guy in West Virginia a while back, and he put on a new alternator, and a new carb. Both are haunting me now. The wires to the alternator are failing, or something. When she dose turn over, the wires sizzle, and they melt, and smoke comes off of them. Smoke would pour into the interior. There are 2 wires that convert to one wire on the way to that alternator, and I recently reconnected them, as they were failing. But, now there is another place near this one, (on the driver side valve cover), and that is where this problem takes place; however, they look like thay are connected just fine...??? Is the gauge of wire just too small, and weak? Also, now the tachometer wont go, but the temperature gauge, which never worked now works. And, the oil gauge shows empty (althoug it is full), and the temperature gauge reads 250 degreese (even though it was only run for about 1 minute, on full oil). Please help me. I love this car so much, and I just want her to run like she used too :(. You can e-mail me at Danoby@comcast.net if needed. Thank you!
