What are some good movies that have at least one GTO in them?
I'll go first:
Title: Slacker
Release Date: around 1990
Desciption: An off-beat, funny movie featuring a variety of slackers in Austin. One character drives a '67.
Title: Dazed and Confused
Release Date: early 90's
Description: A day in the life of some teenagers in 1976 Austin. Kind of a 70's version of American Grafitti. Features a Judge and some other cool cars. Film by the same guy who did Slacker.

Hi Brandon,
Well first off, you stated good movies, so I'll leave off Two Lane Blacktop, circa early 70's featuring a 70 Judge racing a 55 Shoebox across the country.
A new release that I highly recommend for some comedy & a bad-ass 67 Burgundy GTO is BANDITS.
It features Bruce Willis & Billy Bob Thorton, as a couple of goofball bank robbers who bust out of jail. Bruce willis is the cool dude type & his car is this 67 Goat, it is burgundy, black interior, Hurst Dual Gate & he's running a set of Satin American Racing Torque Thrusts.
Anyway, the GTO has some good coverage throughout the movie, & it just goes to show if they need a character to be a cool dude in a movie, give him a GTO.. 8)

:D I saw a movie about 20 years ago called The Hollywood Knights (Nights). It was about a car club losing their biggest hangout, some burger joint of course, and the various exploits of this Hollywood car club. There was a real nice 65 GTO that one of the guys drove. The only names I can remember were, Tony Danza, and the Wolfman Jack. As I remember, it was a great movie.

There was a movie from the mid 80's with Ralf Maccio (Karate Kid) driving a green 66 convertible LeMans with GTO badges. The only reason I even remember was the producer wanted to use my GTO, but later decided it had to be a convertible. :P

* * The movie "Bandits" actually had two 1967 GTO's for the filming. *One of the GTO's was sold to the filmaker by a gentleman from Arlington, WA. *I am unsure where the second GTO was purchased. *
Some of the movie was being filmed in Portland, OR and the filmakers saw his ad on the GTO and met him in Olympia. They asked him if the GTO would smoke the tires. *He was in a shopping center parking lot where it had recently rained. * He promptly backed the car into a puddle and lit the tires. *It was a done deal! *The movie company then told him they were going to use his car in the action shots, and the other car was used for the still shots.
He had recently finished a restoration of the car and I believe it sold for $25,000. *It was entirely repainted for the movie. ;D

And don't forget Wayne's World with the '66 GTO convert,
and that movie where the faculty were turning into aliens with the '68 or 69 GTO.
and Corky's friend in that TV series
Oh and the Monkey Mobile.
I've seen quite a few, just can't think of any right now.

Hmmm.... TV Series Quantum Leap - starring Scott Backula (sp) had a segment where Scott (Sam) leaped into the body of a college professor who helped two students fix their relationship. The guy student drove a '68 or '69 GTO.
"ShawShank Redemption" - Starring Tim Robins and Morgan Freedman - Andy (played by Tim Robins) escapes from Shawshank prison (IN 1966) and drives down to Mexico in a brand new red 1969 GTO. If you're doing the math on this one, you'll realize that Andy escapes in a car that was not yet made!
"Blood In, Blood Out" - movie in teh early 90's starring Benjamin Bratt - he and his gang buddies drove a '68-69 GTO during a cop chase scene. Unfortunately, the car slammed into a moving truck and was totaled.
Movie "Dazed & Confused" (Potheads with nice cars) starred a 1970 Judge.
Mel Gibson's first "Mad Max" movie starred a 1969 GTO Judge with a giant spoiler in the back.
The original "Gone in 60 Seconds" movie, filmed in 1974 featured a 1969 GTO. Nicholas Cage was just a kid back then...
In the original "Cannonball Run" movie - there was a guy, his girlfriend, and his ex-girlfriend racing in a 1969 GTO.
There's a red 1969 convertible GTO in the Jurrasic Park sequel "The Lost World".
..... hmmm.... still thinking....

How about "MY SCIENCE PROJECT", with a blown 68 GTO. I thought the ending was lame. The car breaks down, the girl says to her boyfriend, who loves the car more than her. You can't just leave the car, and he says. It's only a car! That was totally lame, just a car, ya right. :( How about Forest Gump, shot of a 66 GTO, when Jenny is getting on the bus to DC to protest.

Before I go, I thought of one more movie. "THE BURBS" , Tom Hanks was in it, so was a red 65 GTO. ;D

Okay, here's a few more:
1968 - "Bullitt" - starring Steve McQueen. Features a 1968 GTO. This film has perhaps one of the greatest car chases of all time - though the GTO isn't in that chase.
In the mid-90's, Demi Moore starred in an autobiographical movie called "Strip Tease" :o. Ving Rhames was in it and he drove a late 60's GTO.
There was a Gateway Computer commercial where a guy was driving down the street, one hand on the wheel, the other arm wrapped around the boxed computer in the front seat. He's smiling cuz he's driving a '64 GTO.
Remember that movie with Sylvester Stallone & Robert De Niro - "Cop Land" ? - well, it wasn't a GTO but it was a Le Mans that drove off the bridge into the water.
Late 80's TV series "Life Goes On" there's a guy who drives a GTO.
Older movie - "Used Cars" starring Kurt Russel as a used car dealer. There's a late 60's GTO in a HUGE line of cars.
"Fandango" - one of Kevin Costner's early films in 1985. He and three buddies go on a car cruise in a Cadilac, but meet some girls driving a '69 Judge. During a scene, Kevin drives the Judge and does a burn-out. Go Kev!
Lonnie you're right about that chase scene in Bullitt, one of the greatest ever made, including the sound! It may be dubbed but I just saw it recently remastered on DVD on a booming home theatre system and it was great. Too bad the GTO isn't used in the chase. Of course fastback mustang sales probably went thru the roof after that movie came out.
The old TV series Baretta had a clip with Baretta getting dragged behind a '70 Orbit Orange Judge ...ouch! Kinda hard to Keep your eye on the sparrow !

Bullitt is OK. But for my money, I'm watching the original Gone in 60 Seconds. That or The Gumball Rally. The 40 minute scene in GI6S is unreal, and seeing a REAL Cobra and Ferrari Daytona in Gumball cruising at 120+ is something. The DVD of GI6S has a brand new 5.1 soundtrack and a killer making of segment. McQ is a movie with a pretty cool brewster green T/A. Check this out. I'm watching one of my japanese Laser discs of the original woodstock, where they show not only the concert but all the stuff that was going around at the time. Like the 10 mile back up on the streets to get there. A few GTO's in there. But what really caught my eye was watching this band Quill come out and start beating on stuff to make noise ala STOMP. Wood blocks, trash cans etc.. Then what do I notice? One of the guys has beat the crap out of a Hurst Wheel Barrel. You know those big things the wheels came in.
Then throws it to the crowd where is got duly smashed. Oh well.

Don't forget "Slap Shot" Starring Paul Newman and a gold '70 GTO 4 speed he is filmed driving in several different scenes!
