I came across a car parked in a garage with a cover over it the other day. I asked the owner what kind of car he had sitting in the garage. He said it was a GTO. I quickly got out my Northwest Legends business card and asked if he would show me the car. He said sure and pulled off the cover. To my delight it was a '67 convertible. He explained he was the original owner and added just about every option you can think of. Close ratio 4sp 4:33 rear end, wood steering wheel, walnut gear shifter and headrests. Something I didn't know '67 came with ram air? The car had 70,000 original miles and has all matching numbers. I asked how often he gets the car out. He said not much at all and that he was considering selling it. I asked him what kind of money he was looking to get and he said he was going to use an auctioning service. Anyways I asked him to bring the car up to Burien sometime.

Yes Ram Air was available for 67. Special ram air pan, camshaft, different heads. If it's a Ram Air car, the engine block will be stamped xs, rare car if it is. I've seen a ram air conv at the Nats, but didn't have the original #'s. Sounds like a neat car if it is what it is. ;)

About 56 made. What color? I've missed 2 for sale. I'd almost be willing to sell all my cars to have this one, it would take selling all to it as well.
Yeppers, XS would be the correct engine code and the 4.33s would be the only rear available for the '67 R/A. Keep us updated with the progress of this car.
Willing to share the info of where it's at? ;)

I am not 100% but I think it was either a plum mist or burgundy. I guess he still has all the original paper work on the car and it was purchased locally (Olympia). He did mention if he was going to sell it he would prefer to see someone who appreciates GTO’s get it. He knows it’s a rare car so I don’t think anyone would get it below market value. But if it is 1 of 56 with numbers matching and one owner, how sweet would that be for someone in the club to get it.

Remember this conversation? It took me a while but I finally met with the owner of this magnificent '67 GTO convertible tonight. The car is extremely nice and has only 62,500 miles on it. It's Silverglaze in color with black top and interior. Headrests, wood wheel/shift knob and all as written above. VERY Clean car. But, it was only a dealer installed ram air pan on top of a "WT" engine, didn't even get the ram air exhaust manifolds on it. Owner is a very nice guy and a pleasure to talk to about his original owner car that he ordered new in 1966. He took possesion of the '67 goat in December '66.
Nice car, but my search goes on for that Ram Air convertible.

GTO_AL,
I visualize you in the Australian Crocodile Hunter's uniform complete with binoculars & GPS, painstakingly hunting down the rare & unseen to the naked eye, the 67 Ram-Air GTO convertible. One of the wonders of the world, as you chant, "mine, she will be mine" over & over while countlessly searching the internet & classifieds. Your wife says "go to bed GTO_AL" as she awakens at 2 a.m. & you're under the covers with a flashlight looking at the latest Hemmings.....
Anyway, when you met this fine gentleman with the Silverglaze convertible, did he mention to you what he would sell it to an upstanding member of the NW GTO Legends for?
Also there is another 67 Silverglaze convertible w/ black top & interior for sale in Monroe at the collector car sales there.
