One of my winter projects toward getting my 67 back to showroom condition is to refurbish the bucket seats. I have been all over the internet looking for paint that will produce the original textured look on the metal side and back covers without any luck. I have no idea how this look was done originally or whether it can be reproduced. Any recommendations?

The texture is stamped into the seat backs and side trim pieces. Any paint that is the color that you want will work as long as you do not load it up with pain and "fill" the texture.

I few years ago I noticed a small blemish in my new seat covers. OK, so my wife sat down with a pen in her back pocket!!!!! Anyway, I called Year One and they put me in touch with the Seat cover manufacturer UPI...? and I was able to buy a can of dye. It matched perfectly. I had my seat backs and sides painted but, in a pinch, I think this stuff would work well.

Thanks for the information Scott. I took a close look at the seats when I got home from work and they are indeed stamped with the pattern. I have some rust spots coming through that I will try an organic rust removing solution on since sanding will probably remove the pattern. This stuff was advertised in HMN and I bought 5 gallons to try. If it works like the pictures show, it will remove the rust and not touch the paint. I have a couple of spare pieces to try it on, so if anyone is interested, I'll post the results.

Mar-hyde dye is a good product for the vinyl seats. A company called SEM makes an exterior trim paint in black that is a VERY durable paint in a ;low gloss finish. I really like the product.
