Friday July 5 was the date for the test launch of the 66 Golden Tiger at Mission Raceway Park in Canada. *After a year in the making, expectations were high for the debut test n tune however a few bugs still needed to be worked out.

Dave and Lisa Bischopp, Karen and I as well as Bob and Delores Brown and Rick and Joan Youds went to the track to see what the Tiger would do. *Dave had made a few burnouts in his parking lot prior to going to Mission and the motor which he had built worked perfectly. *We still didn't know how the suspension would perform and the electrical system was still unproven. *

As it turned out, the electrical system needed to be rewired and the new rear slicks were not properly balanced which caused a major vibration at high speeds. The cockpit filled with tire smnoke due to the slicks rubbing against the fenderwell. *Dave made two passes and had to back out of it on both, due to the tire rubbing problem. *The first pass was at 11.4 and the second pass was at 10.6. *We are confident that the car will go into the 9's once the bugs are worked out of it.

Lisa made 6 passes in their red 65, all of them in the low 10's. *Her best pass was 10.3 and all of them were tires up! *She had a ball and can't wait for the next Test n Tune which will be August 2nd. *The following weekend at Mission is the Old Time Drags and I encourage everyone to plan to bring your cars up to Canada for a great weekend of racing August 10-11.

Summertime and GTO's! *What could be better?

Correction! Lisa just reminded me that her best pass was 10.27 Only .05 off Daves best pass! Pictures of her launches will follow. Additionally, she informs me that the only way Dave will get back into the seat of the red car is to get her preggo again! Dave, looks like you have your work cut out for you!

Great Pictures Bob ! Sounds like a productive day at the track sorting the "issues" out. Sooooooooo sounds like Lisa is after the Fastest GTO Legends title now!! As you may or may not know that title is held firmly by Mr. Potatohead, Glenn Brusse. The trophy is the NW GTO Legends official toilet seat which is awarded at the Annual Christmas Bash. We call it "The Throne".

I guess Bob and Dave may have a chance at it when the Gold Tiger makes a full pass.

Right on Mr Prez. The car looks great. I'm sorry I didn't get up there for the big day. 10.6 letting out of the gas, hey that's almost as fast as my 64. ;D Hopefully the tire problem isn't too much to fix. I'm waiting to get the word from the Prez on his own launch down the track. Congrats to you and the SD crew, it looks like the car will be pretty darn quick. Later.
