Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(November 05, 2005)

MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:00 pm by John Pearson, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
John Pearson recognized Brian Feggerlard who owns a 2005 Midnight Blue GTO, with a B&M shifter, sport grill and 19” wheels.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella gave the Secretaries Report, based on notes provided from last month’s meeting. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.

TREASURES REPORT:

Amber Engen provided the Treasures Report for this meeting. Amber announced a Starting Balance of $4,136.76 and an ending balance of $4,581.99

OLD BUSINESS:

1. John Pearson reminded the membership that 2006 club dues are now being accepted and urged the membership to pay their dues as soon as possible.

2. John Pearson addressed the membership about the need to nominate club officers for 2006. A discussion ensued and the following nominations were made and settled on as uncontested 2006 Board Member Nominees:
- Stefan Fafnis volunteered and was nominated for President
- Tom Willett was nominated for Vice President
- Amber Engen agreed to run again for the Treasurer
- Wally Santella agreed to run again for Secretary

There was a discussion about wanting to nominate someone who was not present at the November meeting and it was declared that this would not be permitted, since there was no way to determine if that person, once they were notified, would actually agree to run for the position, and then it would then be too late to correct the situation at the Award Banquet. There was also a discussion/concern by some members that they thought it would be unfair that they would have to be present at the Award Banquet in order to vote. It was explained that the Club is sending out a 2006 Board Member Nominees Ballot with the North West Legends Newletter, and this could be completed and either given to someone else who would be attending the Award Banquet, or mailed into the Secretary.

3. John Pearson discussed the latest details about Jim Wangers’ visit to Seattle:
- Jim Wangers will fly up to Seattle on December 2nd and arrive around 11:00am.
- Not sure yet if Dave Anderson will also come up with Jim to assist him with the Muscle Car presentation. John indicated the cost of the airline tickets should be low enough to also accommodate this if Jim feels strongly about it.
- Gary Majors will pick up Jim Wangers (and possibly Dave Anderson) at the airport, and Jim will stay at Gary’s ranch. Dave may stay with his folks or relatives in this area
- Gary will take Jim to Bremerton on Saturday to visit the shipyards. Chuck and Ann Beistline, who work at the shipyards, will help with Jim’s visit/tour.
- After the visit, Gary will take Jim to Brad Barrie’s house in Silverdale to tour Brad’s garage, and afterwards Jim and Gary will return to the Pyramid Ale House to join the Banquet Awards at 4:00pm.
- On Sunday, Jim, with Dave Anderson’s help, will give the Muscle Car presentation at the Bison Creek, at 2:00pm. The Bison Creek will be made completely available for the Northwest Legends members for this event.
- Monday, Gary will take Jim back to SeaTac for his return flight to California.

4. An effort was made by John Pearson to formally make a motion to move the Calendar effort and plans into 2006 for further discussions and decisions, since this was not formally done at the last meeting. This evolved into a heated discussion by one member and then by others, who misunderstood the intensions of this motion and wanted to discuss the Calendar plans instead. More discussions took place, one member left, agitated and upset because he was not able to discuss the Club Calendar plans, and no formal motion was passed by the membership.

NEW BUSINESS:

5. No new business was discussed

6. No 50/50 Raffle was held.

MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm, by John Pearson. Next meeting will be held at the Pyramid Ale House, at 4:00 pm, at the Award Banquet.

I must have missed this one. The minutes say Jim Wangers is giving a presentation on Sunday Dec 4, the day after the banquet? Is this right? I never saw anything about this. Is everyone invited? I guess I thought his presentation was part of the annual party?

I joined in June and haven't been in town for a single monthly meeting so I'm kind of in the dark.

Thanks,

Milt

Just wondering but, since jim is going to tour the shipyard... Maybe he would be interested in a tour of my ship. Uss John C. Stennis. Its the only active carrier on that base. If you like my idea and want to contact me you can call me at 360-373-0411.

Rob,
I just talked with Mrs Gary and she said that Gary would get back to me tomorrow about your idea. Chances are that if Jim was interested that you'd have to make all the arrangements with your ship and also with Mr. Beistline as I believe he's already made the arrangements on the base. I'll give Gary your number tomorrow if he doesn't already have it.

Its actually alot easier than it sounds. There is two ways we could go about it.

1. I could meet Mr. Wangers and Mr. Beistline somewhere on their tour of the ship yard and register them as guests and give them the tour. (the easiest route)

2. I could go to the MWR office on my ship and see if they would want to give him a VIP tour of the stennis. They do this for people all the time. It would include a very knowlegable tour with the ships photographers and usually the guests are given a hat or something. That is... if he wants an entourage. Would take a little work on my part but its very do-able.

Getting on the base and getting on the ship is as easy as being escorted with an ID holder. All you need is a drivers license. If he's getting a tour of the Industrial area (which I doubt) than thats amazing because thats a very very "secured" area. But then again ... Mr Beistline does park at the fire station.. And we all know that firemen get special treatment.. right al?
