Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(January 7, 2006)


MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:14 pm by Stefan Fafnis, new President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Stefan Fafnis recognized and introduced new guest, Jim Laplaca, who owns a 1970 ½ Trans AM

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella gave the Secretaries Report, based on notes provided from last month’s meeting. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.

TREASURES REPORT:

Amber Engen provided the Treasures Report for this meeting. Amber announced a Beginning Balance of $4,289.93 and an ending balance of $2,054.94.

CAR TALK SESSION:

Stefan Fafnis introduced a new component in the Monthly Club Meeting format. At each meeting, Stefan wants to take some time to have members give a brief synopsis of any car related work that’s going on in their world:
- Wally Santella talked about the Sun Distributor Machine that he is just about done, restoring. Wally stated his intention to make the use of this distributor tester available to the membership, including such events as the Spring and Fall Car Clinics.
- Denny Deal talked about plans for this years spring and fall Car Clinics and has set the date for the spring event, for ………
- Gary Tischer talked about a dash-pot for his 2004 GTO.
- Mitch Bleitz says he is working on his cutouts.
- Dennis Babcock explained that he took a break last summer and fall from working on his 1959 El Camino, while working on his mom’s house, but promises to get back on this project this year.
- Amber Engen had sad news to share with the membership about the damage that was done to her GTO. The right side of her car was smashed and she has taken it to Bel-Red Collision, in Bellevue to be worked on.
- Frank Muscutt related that his 69 LeMans has had the seats and dash recovered, and 12” woofer speakers installed. Frank is looking for 3/7 gears, 15” rims, and plans to attach a spoiler.
- Mike Buzard has replaced the floor pans on his 64 GTO. He has also replaced his headliner. He needs to choose color and paint. Mike explained that he couldn’t start the painting activity because he broke his finger.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Lonnie Santella talked about the “funny” awards and provided a recap of who won, and for what category.
2. Wally Santella reviewed the “serious” awards and went over the categories and the winners.
3. Stefan Fafnis talked about Jim Wangers, his visit to our December club activities, the Muscle Car Presentation at the Bison Creek on Sunday and important he thought this was to our interests. John Person also reported that he had spoke with Wangers and that Jim had said that he was very happy with his visit to the northwest. Jim said he truly looks forward to visiting with us and feel that it is one of the two best places that he goes to.

NEW BUSINESS:

4. John Pearson talked to the membership about this year’s NW Muscle Car Meet, and how much we should spend on door prizes. John made a motion to the membership that we budget $250, and the motion was passed.

5. Stefan Fafnis went over a list of car related events on this years calendar and asked the membership to consider attending some of these.

6. Denny Deal and Stefan Fafnis explained our plans for a 2007 Club Calendar to be developed and sold in 2006. They explained some of the decisions that the Board had made, after hearing a proposal from Denny Deal. Part of these decisions included the forming of a Club Calendar Committee to investigate the best ideas for selling and marketing the calendar, and to work at some of these activities. The Calendar Committee was drafted, and includes the following members:
- Denis Babcock
- Gary Tischer
- Amber Engen
- Timothy Moe
- Mike Buzard
- Frank Miscutt
- Denny Deal
- Mike Santella

7. 50/50 Raffle was held and was won by Amber Engen.

MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 5:15 pm, by Stefan Fafnis. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek, at 5:00pm, on Saturday, February 4th.

Thanks Lonnie for posting the minutes......I missed the meeting and didn't get to see Stefan's debut! The meeting was short though...only a minute long.

Stef runs it "auction-style" so don't expect to talk unless you're ready to bid on the opportunity to comment!

And oh yeah, thanks Lonnie for taking the time to post the minutes on the website.
