I'm looking for a good plating shop to restore some parts. I'm in Olympia, but anywhere in the Puget Sound area is okay. I just want a local shop (so my parts don't disappear in shipping), a good job, and a fair price. I'd appreciate comments if you can recommend anyone...or if you tell me who to avoid. Thanks much!

I deal with a guy in Kirkland who has powdercoated my intake and is in the process of reparing + chroming my front valance. Next will be my rear bumper once I get the valance back. I take my parts to my friend and he brings them to the shop. I will get his number and let you know.

The only other place that I found that will do larger items (bumpers, wheels, etc) is Art Brass in downtown Seattle. My father has used a guy in the Kent valley but he only does small items such as trim. I will get more info.

Can you possibly get the number for the Kent Valley shop? I have an antique door handle that I have wanted to get nickel plated. I went to a local powder coating place and they wanted a minimum of $150.00. I'm leaning back towards the plating instead. If not then a coat of krylon is what this will get.

Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the info so far. I have a small collection of parts (tail light housings, etc.), the largest being an air cleaner. All help is appreciated.

Another place that does nice work is Show Quality Metal Finishing

They were a club sponsor as well. They usually have a booth at the Roadster show. Good guys.

I did a search for "plating" in Washington. Here are the results. There are 55 listings. Not all cover cars. Good luck

Electrofinishing. Here is my story. sad but true. Maybe I can save a fellow club member the trouble.
They did a bad job for me. They will show you nice work when you drop off your part...But they quoted me a fair price for a part and said it would be 4 weeks.5 weeks later they said 4 more weeks. this cycle went on 2 more times.
It was finally me getting upset before my small part was done. And then they wanted more $ than what I was quoted. I had to come back and hash it out with the owner beacuse the guy who did the work said he had too much time in the part. I was forced to split the difference between the quoted price and the final price. The owner said if I was not willing to pay the extra that he would just keep my part. Not cool.
They never one time called me or left a VM. I had to check back each time. The 1st time I checked in it took about 15 minutes for someone to find my part. I had to describe it and then walk thru the MESS to pick it out. I was told that they were unsure if they even had a part from me.
Turns out the part looks real nice. but it was coated so many times that now it is too thick and does not fit the hole it came out of. So I cant use it anyway. I would have to cut or grind and then that would cause the rest of the coating to peel. No Tall tales here guys. I still have the part.
