Howdy,

A couple of weeks ago I met a member of yours, Al. He was rubbing on his Plum Mist 67 and I had to stop by and get a look at his car. I myself have just recently purchased a 66 Lemans and thought it might be nice to put the Pontiacs side by side (and get a look at Al's car). He suggested I check out your website, so I've come to do just that.

Not very long ago I bought a 66 Lemans hardtop from a gentleman in Tacoma. It's a SOHC 6 car and it is bone stock and totally unmolested. There are 120K miles on the engine and I currently using this as my daily drvier. The body is a bit rough with suprisingly little rust. The interior is all there (including a Motorola Vibrasonic unit) and in extremely good shape. This car is an excellent candidate for some type of restoration.

I'm planning on doing some restoration work on it this winter. Any advice? As a 6 cly car, is it worth fully restoring or partially restoring to dependable daily driver status.

Hopefully the picture attached itself. Anyway, any input anyone would be willing to give would be appreciated and thanks for letting me take up space on your board!

Sweet Ride... Those OHC 6's were quite peppy and reliable! I would definitely restore it and leave it original to boot! Very few out there and those that are, we must preserve!

My two cents worth! Welcome to our world... Ponchos Rule!

Damon,

Nice LeMans!
Nice original condition too, how about a shot of that engine bay?
The original Pontiac Cammers are rare indians indeed, she deserves your time as it will definately be well respected at a car show in stock form. We call those kind of Pontiacs survivors....Not many left, enjoy! 8)

Damon,
Glad to see you come on in and join us on the site. You and your car would be more than welcome on board with us in the club too if interested. Call me or come back by just shoot the breeze or if you need anything.
I agree, again I say, keep her as she is when you restore it.

Welcome, nice car. I always liked the ohc 6 cars, there aren't many still spinning around. Good luck with what ever it is you do with it, it's all good.

Welcome, Damon. Nice car, I would restore it with the cammer motor as there are few left, but that is up to you.
Just enjoy the old tin indian ;)

Welcome !
Beatiful ride, love those OHC 6 cars. I lusted after an OHC 6 Firebird many years ago. There was a fabulous OHC 6 at Tiger Run this year, what a beauty that was too.
It's unanimous....Keep it and do good things to it 8)

Hey Damon.... Welcome !!
My first car was A 68 tempest..OHC 6. My second car was A 66 Lemans..OHC 6... I loved both of those cars.. I'll bet you'll love yours just as much. You could add a four barrel cam and carb/manifold and really suprize some people. Just have fun with your new prize!!

It's nice to see so many of you supporting keeping the car original! By request I've included a pic of the engine bay. Belive it or not, aside from a minor "flat spot" on acceleration, this thing runs extremely well though you wouldnt guess it from the picture.

I'm fully planning on keeping the car a 6 cly (it wouldnt seem right doing anything else with it in my opinion) ;D. The engine and Powerglide will be gone through this winter.

I think the plan will be to retain as much originality as possible except I will be putting Rally II's on it and the color scheme doesnt do much for me so I'll be making a tough choice there.

Really my focus beyond control arm bushings and ball joints this weekend will be to locate someone to take on the task of doing the body work it needs sometime soon. I want to have the body work done before the winter teardown (paint in the sping).

For now, I'm just chipping away at replacing worn/old parts on the weekends and enjoying driving it.

As for the club meeting, I'll mark my calender and see you guys there!
