The message was delivered to seek out & take on this mission, should I choose to accept. They said it could not be done.......Yes, a mission of driving for 19 hours straight, to pick up the long awaited 69 Judge of Glen Ainsworth fresh from the restoration shop of TNT Musclecar in Yreka, California.
The masses said it was a weekend trip, get some Hotels booked, I told the masses that I am a Warrior, the Jedi Knight of car hauling. Driving to California & back home in one day. :o
So the gallant adventure became a reality & was conquored.
I picked up Glen at Southcenter Mall at 4 a.m. We headed straight down I-5 in the 2500 Ram pulling the car trailer, we made fantastic time, arriving in Salem, Oregon at around 8 a.m. I think, pulling off to have a couple of Grand Slams at Denny's.
We're off again, heading toward Southern Oregon.
I think we made it into California at noon, & into Yreka at 1 p.m. to greet Tony Cunial at TNT.
California was a balmy 85 degrees, as we loaded the JUDGE onto my trailer.
We checked out Tony's shop, I took some pics of the various Ponchos hanging about & we were off, like it was our job.
As a side note, the gas in Yreka is 2.09 a gallon. ::)
Fast forward to Portland, we hit 65 degrees & rain. I think we got there around 9 p.m. At this point I'm getting a little hazy, & Glen is remembering that we have not ate since 8 a.m. (soldiers on a mission)
So we roll into the Azteca in Kelso for some Mexican eats.
Anyway, it was a white knuckle ride back into Seattle, as the torrential rain would not let up & the highway was dark & wet.
But the good news is, we off loaded Glen's prized Judge & into his warm garage at 1 a.m. & dried her off. Not one blemish from the 10 hour run home.
So, the mission was accomplished as I eased the Ram back onto the freeway & headed home at 1:30 a.m. thinking what an excellent adventure.
Some fun filled facts: 5 tanks of fuel, 989 miles, 2 meals, 3 rest stops, & balls to the wall Legends style!
Look forward to check out Glen's Judge at a cruise near you soon, the paint job & body work is nothing short of fantastic! ;D
