I've managed to get myself into a series of predicaments that I could use some advice with.
Prelude:
I've managed to acquire two '67 Pontiac LeMans (plural: Les Mans?) One is definitely a donor, the other is the recipient. Problem is that neither has an engine.
To make things worse, I've been unemployed for ten months and have to sell my house, so spending money on this car is going to be closely scrutinized. (BTW: I'm employed again, but at a $20/hr cut in salary.)
Problem: with the sale of the house, I may very well have to park the car on the street. Without an engine, King County Police can tow it without notice as a junk car. My thought was to get a running engine from a junkyard and get the car "drivable" as quickly as possible. Minimum requirement is that the car be capable of running without having to baby sit the engine. (adding water every 15 minutes, replacing all the fluids if the engine is run due to a cracked block, etc...) If I manage to get something that is fairly reliable, then I may consider selling off my commuter car to reduce the monthly cost of insurance and such.
What I want to know:
* Does anyone have a running Pontiac engine they'd like to get rid of for extremely cheap? I've called a couple of wrecking yards and they're fresh out of them... :-/
* If I were to find a running 305/350, how difficult will it be to get the motor mounts to work between the Pontiac frame and BowTie engine?
* Is there anything I have to do to the TH350 that was behind a 455 to get it to mount to the 305 or 350?
Please remember, this is not (I promise) the optimal solution for my car, just one that will get the car to a point that I can avoid paying to store the car someplace and keep it close enough to my temporary home that I can keep working on it.
Thanks for your help and thanks to Legends for providing this forum!
