:-/ *Hello again gang. *Am going to be removing the ST300 tranny out of the 1966 GTO (White Tiger) and put in a TH400 soon. *A few stupid questions ??? before i take on this little project.

When i pull the tranny do i need to block the engine some way so it doesn't move around? *Or will it balance itself without the tranny? *If i block up where and what do i use, *2x4s?

Besides moving back the cross member and drilling new holes in the frame and a different drive shaft are there any other concerns regarding this swap? *What surprises am i in for? *

Anyone out there done this lately or in the past that can give guidance please feel free. *ANYONE WANT TO DO IT FOR ME? *;D *Never hurts to ask.. :)

Thanks for all your wisdom, guidance, wise cracks, and assistance with this project. *

Mike get that rear diff ready. *Tiger is getting a little hungry after the tranny is completed that is the next project.

Well, I don't have a 66 but, as long as the engine is bolted to the car on the engine mounts you can take out the tranny without any other support. The only things I would think might be a problem are, transmission tunnel clearance, exhaust pipes and linkages. Not counting the aforementioned driveshaft. Good Luck.

JB is right, the engine will balance on the motor mounts, it'll droop down a bit but it isn't going anywhere.
If you want to commission somebody to do the swap maybe you should call member Gary Tischer at Acutran Trans in Burien for a quote.
