Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(July 1st, 2006)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 4:15 pm by Stefan Fafnis, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
No new guests were introduced.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Mike Santella gave the June Secretaries Report, due to the fact that the club’s secretary skipped the meeting and was playing golf. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
Amber Engen provided the Treasures Report for this meeting. Amber announced a Beginning Balance of $3170.18 and an ending balance of $4,825.00.
CAR TALK SESSION:
- Jim Bozony is replacing his clutch and pressure plate and is having the transmission rebuilt in his ‘70 GTO.
- Brandon Warren replaced the voltage regulator in his ’66 GTO, but is hearing a buzzing noise. He asked the club if anyone had experienced the same thing in the past.
- John Bozony is having a Quadrajet carburetor built to replace the Holley he is currently running on his newly rebuilt motor.
- JP actually drove his car to the meeting, after squaring away his exhaust issues.
- The new upholstery Wally ordered from Legendary Auto Interiors, at Tiger Run, started arriving at the house.
- No one has checked out Jim’s Wrecking in Poulsbo yet, on their supposed herd of Pontiacs.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Gary Tischer talked about the Greenwood Car Show. 21 Members and 3 non-members made the show and all parked together between 78th and 79th, taking up both sides of the street. The weather was great and the turn out was at least 500 cars. A good time was had by all
2. Mike Santella gave an update on the upcoming Muscle Car Meet, scheduled for August 13th at the XXX in Issaquah. All sponsorship dollars have been collected and a list of volunteers was started for the event. The pre-event meeting will be scheduled by phone and email a week or two before the event.
3. The club president talked about the rescheduled Kirkland Pontiac “Show & Shine” on July 8th, from 9:00 to 3:00pm. The list of scheduled attendees has mysteriously shrunk and some cold calling will need to be done to make sure the Legends are well represented on Saturday.
4. The Moon Mullen Crab Feed is July 22nd in Ferndale’s Half Moon Bay. Moon needs a rough estimate of how many plan on attending so he can plan the menu. He asks that everyone who plans to attend, bring a side dish and bring chairs.
5. Amber gave an update on the sales of the club calendars. As of the July first meeting, $725 in profits has been generated, with 625 calendars left to sell. Get em while you can!
6. Lara Major gave an update on Rainier Run, scheduled for 9:00 AM, July 29th. Looks like all checkpoints have been covered, but there is always a need for back-ups, so anyone who may have an opening in their schedule, get with Lara after the meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Christmas Party – Amber will check into the availability of the larger room at the Pyramid Ale house, for this year’s Christmas party. The larger room will hold 150 people, so there will be plenty of room for the legends and their families. The club made a motion to hold the party at Pyramid if the big room is available. Motion was passed. Amber will update the club on availability.
2. Larry Moore drove his ’68 GTO to the Western Regional P O C I meet in Ontario, California which coincides with Jim Wangers’ and Pontiac’s 80th birthday.
3. JP had the name of Joe Young, who has several Pontiac cranks for sale. Joe’s phone number was passed around… 206-363-4145, incase you missed it!
50/50 Raffle – Gary Tischer collected money and handed out tickets for the 50-50 raffle, but Mike was distracted by his Pepperoni and Pineapple and missed who won and how much was collected. The pizza was great though.
MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 5:05 PM, by Stefan Fafnis. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek, at 4:00pm, on Saturday, August 5th.
