Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(August 5th, 2006)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 4:05 pm by Wally Santella, Secretary, standing in for Stefan Fafnis, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
No new members or guests were present.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave the July Secretaries Report. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
Amber Engen provided the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $4,825 and an ending balance of $3,845.
CAR TALK SESSION:
- Mike Buzzard talked about installing a Harrison 4-core radiator in his ’64. Suggests using your old 2-core tanks for better fit.
- John Bozony has his carburetor quandaries solved.
- Frank Musket picked up a new hood, Endura nose and rear spoiler for his ’69.
- Jim Bozony has replaced the clutch in his ’70, added a new tranny casing, resurfaced the flywheel and is looking at a new High Torque starter.
- JP bought a used ’68 rear bumper from Mark Neary.
- Amber’s ’06 GTO has bad factory struts by Monroe. Car is still in the dealer waiting for replacement parts to come in from over seas. Parts are supposed to be on the way.
OLD BUSINESS:
The club has sold $700 in calendars as of the August meeting. There will be a calendar ad to run in the September Legend.
Lara Major gave a recap on this year’s Rainier Run. $140 in net income was generated from this year’s event. The club voted to donate all $140 to the Pediatric Interim Care Center and then up the donation to $250.
Muscle Car Meet - Mike Santella gave a recap of the pre- Muscle Car Meet planning session at XXX, held just before the August club meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Wally and Gary Major talked about the differences between old gas vs. new gas, based on an article in the August ’06 Legend, by John Sawruk. Gary will have an article with more detail on this in the next club newsletter.
Amber won 2nd place in ’66 – ’67 Convertible at this years Western Washington Firebird’s Car Show in Everett.
Bob Weis won 1st for ’68 – ’74 Hard Top.
Mike Buzzard won 1st for best High Performance Race.
50/50 Raffle: No 50-50 raffle because Gary was in Reno for Hot August Nights.
MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 5:15 PM, by Wally Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek, at 4:00pm, on Saturday, September 2nd.
