Watching this preview and trailer makes the hair on my neck STAND UP

This is the trailer for the 1969 Super Muscle Car shootout that ran on the Speed Channel. Dang it, I don't get the channel.

There is a tasty (actual, documented) Royal Bobcatted RA IV GTO in here :D
The GTO was a Toronto car and Milt Schornack recently confirmed that he traveled to the dealership in Toronto to lay down some bobcat treatments on 2 or 3 69 Pontiacs, all at once.

I heard somewhere that the GTO (m-21 with 4.33 gears) puts down the Baldwin Motion Camaro and the Yenko Nova. Then it beat the Mopar, then the AMC. For the finish, it beat the Ford. LOL. It smoked all the cars.

Anybody see this ? Anybody got a recording of the whole show ?

This has part of the quarter mile shootout and the conclusion showing the Pontiac clearly taking home the bacon :)

I think a couple of those cars are from Kevin Suydam's collection. Man they need to rerun that show.

I was flipping channels (always run by the speed chanel) and hopped on just at the start. Awesome. The 69 Goat Bobcat won the whole thing. The driver thought it was gonna dog it in the slalom but then every single one of the cars dogged it in the slalom so the GTO won (the show, not the slalom). Made me want a Bobcat. Now, the other cars were no slouches either. The Yenko came out looking terrible. Same for the Shelby.

Great show!

Very cool. I think the Nova, and yellow COPO Camaro are indeed Kevin Suydams cars, I don't know if the Ram Air car is though (I think he has Judges). There was one of these on a year or so ago - had a '69 Hurst/Olds as I recall. It was available on DVD - hopefully this one will be too. I looked into the programming and this is what is listed for the Shootout:

"During the one-hour special scheduled to debut this summer on SPEED, muscle cars from each of the major manufacturers will battle against each other, renewing some of the old rivalries. The competitors include:

• 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge
• 1969 AMX 390 Go Package
• 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1
• 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile 442
• 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS
• 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429
• 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger

Performance will depend on the manufacturers’ differences as each muscle car will use the same fuel and the same brake materials as well as run on the same brand tires."
