I've have a 70' lemans sport with (i think) 2.41. I want to upgrade to a better straight line gear but I've heard contradicting stories. Any help would be nice. Thanks:confused:

The Ford 9 inch is the best.

The Ford 9 inch is the best.

Another vote for the 9" and I believe you will need one that is 61 3/4" wide. I will see if I can confirm

I have a ford 9 inch w/ disc brakes and a posi. Not sure how to set it up for the lemans.

anyone have drawings or plans to fit a 9 inch into a pont. I have a torch and welder and I'm not afraid to use them.

If you do an internet search you can buy them with the gear ratio of your choice, axles set up for stock or disc brakes for a lot less heartache that are bolt in conversions. I was talking to the mosler guys at a swap meet last summer and I think I figured it would be about a $1700-$2000 dollar INVESTMENT for a turnkey ready to install unit. Thats the direction i'm going as soon as I can budget it or I break the Hotrod64 comepletly. Since stock GM posi is about $600 new for the carrier and install kit, seems like a no brainer to me. Good luck and let me know what you do, Mike

I've seen what your talking about on ebay. I already have everything except the mounting hardware. Plus it sounds interesting and I enjoy fabricating. The rear end I got came from a 1979 lincoln mark 5. The width is within a quarter inch and it came with disc brakes and a posi. It is 28 spline. got everything for $125.00.

Totally cool. Just plaz the brackets off the stocker and fab them on the 9". Your not done yet?
