Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(February 3rd, 2007)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:00 pm by Stefan Fafnis, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien, WA.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Bob and Donna Bukoski were introduced as new members. They are working on their 1972 LeMans.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave the January 07 Secretaries Report. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
Amber Engen gave Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $3,517.79 and an Ending Balance of $4,012.14. It was agreed by the members to sell remaining Club Calendars at $5.00/calendar.
CAR TALK SESSION:
- Gary Tischer is working on his original engine for his “64”. Slowly coming together.
- Mike Buzzard’s 64 died twice on the way to Everett. He replaced the points & condenser twice – not sure what the problem was.
- Stefan Fafnis talked about head gasket problems that he was having.
- John Pearson talked about a friend of his who had an accident with his GTO, which was insured for $23,000, but was able to secure a settlement for $60,000 after battling with them.
OLD BUSINESS:
- John Pearson advised the membership that Brad Barrie has been working behind the scenes to organize our club members participation in the upcoming Seattle Roadster Show, which will open on Friday, March 2nd. Brad has 3 cars scheduled, but still needs 3 more. John argued for more participation and encouraged others to participate.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Stefan Fafnis advised the membership that Lara Majors is asking if we really want to do a Rainier Run this year. If we do, she wants someone to help promote the event. Wally Santella and Mike Santella will call/contact other car clubs in the Washington State and talk to them about having their members participate in this years event.
- Denny Deal talked to the membership about the status of our 2008 Club Calendar effort to date. Denny explained that he is running into sponsor problems. Denny says we will need to have the Calendar Committee meet again to decide how to promote individual sponsor versions of the Calendar. Denny stated that we won’t try to publish in time for Tiger Run this year.
- John Pearson talked about a friend named “Tu” who was down with Leukemia, so John and Brad Barrie worked to put Tu’s car together, assembling the front-end, grill and headlights.
50/50 Raffle: A 50-50 raffle was held and Tom Willett won $40.
MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 5:45 PM, by Stefan Fafnis. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek in Burien, on Saturday, March 3rd, 2007, at 5:00 PM.
