Someone changed lanes into me a few days ago. The damage could have been much worse, but the quarter, door, and fender all need some straightening and paint. This happened on my 65 Skylark, so there are no reproduction parts, and replacement parts are near non-existant.
Can anyone recommend a decent shop around Kent / Tukwila / Renton? I'd also be interested in who to 'steer away' from, just in case you have a horror story to tell.
Thanks !!

I'll check them out Saturday if they're open, otherwise early next week. I've gotten 3 estimates so far, and one thing is for certain.... I should gone into the Autobody / Paint business years ago... I could have retired by now !!!

Actually, I've gotten 4 estimates. As a sanity check only, I went to Maaco in Kent. The 'estimator' enthusiastically suggested their "$199 Special" to paint the rest of the car after they finished the bodywork. What a bargain!!!

Any updates about where you finally went and how it came out?

Sorry, I haven't logged into here in awhile. The good news is that the Skylark has been repainted. The bad news is that I can't seem to find the time to put it all back together.
I had it stripped to metal, every inch prepped, and eventually repainted with 2007 Mazda Copper Red + clear (used to be metallic gold). It was in the shop for about 4 months, but they did an unbelievable job for $4100. To keep costs down, I removed the interior + all trim before taking the car into the shop.
Now don't shudder when I mention this, but it was done at Maaco. Yes, even Maaco can do a decent paint job, but I wouldn't have trusted it anywhere other than the Federal Way location.
