I'm so happy.... ::) my new Diamond Back Redline tires arrived today. I'm so glad I sent back the Cokers, and got the wider Diamond Back's.

A friend of mine started detailing my engine compartment this weekend and so far it looks great. I'd post some pictures but they were taken in high definition and the images are too big to post.

Hey wise-guy, if I knew how to reduce them I would. I have them in my email as jpeg's. How do I reduce them?

Send them to me tough guy, I'll do it! ;D

Congrats, by the way. You going to cruise it to Tiger Run?

After I reply to you, I will email them to you. Tiger Run.....hmmm, that's going to be a tough one for me. I've got a business meeting in California and have to fly out on Monday for a early morning meeting on Tuesday. My better half thinks I might be pushing the envelope. We'll see, I've not completely ruled it out yet.

Lonnie, Thanks for posting my pics.....you're the man!

You'll note that my throttle linkage is not quite correct....the thinking behind the change was to take some strain off of the center carb throttle shaft. An added benefit was that after I changed the throttle shaft and moved the spring forward, the throttle is smooth and responsive.

I had the carbs rebuilt last November and to save a few bucks for me, the guy that did them spray painted a high temp clear laquer on the carbs...but in hind sight, I would have had them professionaly coated. I seem to have some seepage from each carb, not much....just enough to make the carbs and manifold look dirty. They will look nice and clean when this project is done.

My plan is when I pull the engine for it's next rebuild (could be a couple of years yet) that I'll get the front suspension all cleaned up and presentable.

Almost done.....need to spruce up the steering shaft, put on the mud flaps and save some money for a new plated brake booster....it didn't get painted this go round.

I'm so frustrated......I could strangle somebody. Well, not that bad, but frustrated anyway.

I just had the new redlines installed and they look great. The problem.....evidently the profile on these tires are wider than my previous tires and my left front tire is rubbing on the lowest part of the fender along the door edge). Arghhhhhh. So, I just took Old Blue to my alignment shop and they think they can adjust the caster enough to make it clear. Short of that,,,what do I do with the car show next week? Do I put on the old tires? Do I go into hiding?

HELP.

How could these be rubbing! ??? :(
I don't get it unless the car was way out of alignment.
These are 205x70x14 I assume.
Shoot.
Rick, I suggest making another post so this gets the attention of the other owners of '65 model year cars.
I can only comment about what fits on '68-72 cars based on my own experience. I hope this can be solved and it's something simple.

Why would one side rub and not the other?

No.. The driver's side of many musclecars sags slightly lower than the passenger, barely noticable because of body mount pressure & more weight usually on the driver's side creating a sag over time in the bushings & springs.
Rick if you want to do a McGiver cheese trick for the time being, I would go to an auto parts store & get some spring spacers, they just slip in between the coils, give em a turn & whalla, you are riding higher on the drivers side & nobody is the wiser. Start with one & perhaps go to two.
That'll get you to the Roadster show on those new redlines with no rub.

Two factors I can throw out there from experience. Are you running front disc brakes? This will set the wheel out further by almost 1/2 inch. Also if your car sits low, like mine it will rub when you turn if it is low enough. Mark D remebber Tiger Run debut in '97 with the PROGTO? I had to raise my car slightly. I first bandaged it by adding spacers until I could get a new set of slightly taller springs installed. My tires by the way are 195 65 15 with 15x6 rims. If you are running wider and taller tires with a low stance there could be the problem. But mine rubbed up top not behind the wheel.

Thanks for the advice guys. I just stopped by the alignment shop and they are working on it right now. They think they can make the adjustment.....so my fingers are crossed. I was talking to another buddy of mine and he suggested that it's possible (just like was mentioned here) that a. maybe at some point the frame was bent, or because there wasn't any problem with the previous alignment and the previous tires that a combination of the more squared off tread design and a sagging spring might just be enough to make the tire rub. The tires are 215/70/14....

Wish me luck.....and I'll probably be in the market for some new springs.

oh, and I am running front disc brakes.....

Tire Update -

I just got back from the alignment shop, the were able to adjust the caster enough to stop the rubbing....I took it for a spin and couldn't make it rub (no, I didn't try aiming at any curbs or pot holes). So, it turns out I need a new upper ball joint (right side) and they can do the alignment....yippeeee.

Meanwhile while waiting in line, I met a guy that's in charge of getting the NW Mustang Club display together for the Roadster Show.....You meet the nicest people when cars come together....it was cool.
