65 GTO convertible clone (Tempest)

I saw a white '65 Tempest convertible (cloned GTO) for sale on Meridian in Puyallup yesterday. It's $18,500. The for sale sign says 400 cu,in, but the engine code is YY, not sure of the year of engine but the YY codes that I found were either 428 or 455. Rally IIs, 4 speed. blue interior, console, white with white top. Looks like older restification. I didn't write the number down because I'm not interested. But the car was located at one of the three gas stations there on 108th and Meridian.
If someone was real interested, I could be convinced to go back out and het the number.

I went up the hill looking for it but I did not see it.

There was a guy out by Lipolma Firs GC (about 196th) that had a white 65 rag white top and blue interior but it was a auto trans on the floor with a b&M shifter. The shifter was well done but mounted thru the 65 console...Do you think this could this be the same car? I do not remember motor except it was Pont BB.

The ragtop that I saw also has blue interior but I'm pretty sure it's a 4 spd. One way to tell for sure... the hood scoop on the one I saw was painted black. The tail lights were Tempest without the chrome bars through the lights. (I had to ask Gary M. about those)
With the rain it may be that he didn't bring it out. Was the car you saw for sale? for $$??

must be a different car then the one I saw. your description was so close to what I remember that I had to wonder if I was fooled...mine was not blacked out scoop and the guy said it was a real GTO. it was a "242" car that I saw

242? on a 65? or was the one you saw not a 65? I thought 65's had 237 codes like the lemans? if it was a 65 with a 242 code it's a fake vin tag unless i've lost my memory.
