Well Bruce, all I can say is OVERWELMING! I attended the Woodward Dream cruise a couple of years back, and as luck would have it there was a GTO regional event in the same town that weekend with over 300 GTO's!

We rolled ( well actually flew, then rented a car) into Detroit and headed out to Woodward area. Friday checked out the arrivals at the host hotel (too many GTO's to count), then follwed them to a local cruise spot. We then headed out to Woodward to check out the action a night before it actually started. It was already unreal with tons of cool cars cruising the 4 lane street.

Saturday was the big one. We started out at the tip of the action in Pontiac and checked out a show there with a few hundered cars. Then cruised the whole strip of Woodward, before landing around mile 11 and hanging out for the duration across from Dugan's a famous pub. About every mile there is a car show, and this cruise goes on for 10 or 15 miles!!!

The streets were jammed with cars cruising and parked, along with so many people it was unbelievable. It was like a parade lined street on both sides for miles. They estimate a million people. I can't fathom that but I wouldn't despute it either.

Sunday we headed to Freedom Park and checked out the regional GTO show. This was hosted by the Woodward GTO Tigers club (GTOAA), and had a blast seeing over 300 cars. There were colors there and combinations I had never seen before. Two I remember were a pair of '69 RA IV Judges, and a RA V '69 GTO. There was this cool old '64 street racer that was blue with a red, white and blue flag vinyl roof, and Hurst mags, and oh yea had a Royal Pontiac sticker in the window.

If you can swing it, this is a must see for anyone. Awesome experience!

I'm gonna be in Slippery Rock, PA the week before and plan to come home that weekend... Wonder how I could get 300 miles Northwest that Friday... Wonder if I can change my ticket to depart from Detroit.... ;)
