I've received a message addressed to the club regarding where to look for hotel accommodations at the next Tiger Run. This person wants to make their first trip there next season, and needs some help on where to make the arrangements. Since most of you have been there 'several' times already, could you post a little info on where you stayed - possibly the name and general price of the Hotel/Motel? If you happen to have the phone number, great - but no big deal.
Thanks on behalf of our loyal Legends website patrons! ;D

The host hotel & place to stay is the BEND RIVERSIDE MOTEL.
I suggest getting in your reservations asap, most Tiger Run patrons make reservations as much as a year in advance, as I always book the following year's room when I check out each May.
Good luck & see ya at TIGER RUN 2003 8)

Tiger Run 2003
Memorial Day Weekend 2003
Friday 5/23 Pilot Butte Drive In Kickoff
Saturday 5/24 Car Show & Awards Banquet
Sunday 5/25 All Pontiac Drags & Goodbye Pizza Feed
Now, unofficially, many NW GTO Legends members caravan down Thursday, get situated, then do a Thursday night BBQ.
In any event, there will be 2 NW GTO Legends club caravans down to Bend, one Thursday morning & one Friday morning, we leave at the McDonalds at the Tacoma intersection of I-5 & hwy 512, usually between 9 & 9:30.
Then after the Tiger Run weekend, most members stay Sunday night, grab a bite Monday morning & head toward Seattle on Memorial Day, 5/26.
Probably more information than needed, but man, I'm already getting excited. ;D
I'm ready for the Tigers right now !
Thanks Mark, I'm booked ;D

I wouldn't mind attending the Run, never been, I was going to take my 69 down in 98 but decided against it with 4.33's and I wasn't sure how reliable the car would be over the long haul. Do you have to be driving a GTO to go to this thing? How long does it take to get there from Seattle? I wouldn't mind tagging along with someone or taking someone in my non-GTO. Don't really want to drive 16 hours or whatever on my own that'd be a bit boring.
Cheers,
Mark
Welcome to the Legends Forum Mark!
Gee, the drive from Seattle is the better part of 5.5-6 hours and shoot, with 4:33 gears you'd go nutz of course. Lots and lots of folks trailer their cars. I myself am trying to figure out how to get my GTO down there. I don't own a rig or a trailer and don't want to buy one either but come hell or highwater I will get it down there. Maybe we could get creative and come up with a way to get that GTO of yours there and mine too.
Hmmm...I'd prefer not to steal a car hauler but...... ;D
Mark, what's your location?

Bruce, just drive your car down. The drive is a lot of fun in your Judge, I drove mine down in 93 thru a rain storm over Mt Hood, still managed to win something in Bend. Drive it, you'll like it. ;D

Hi Bruce,
Well I don't have my GTO any more (boo hoo). But I'm glad I didn't attempt the drive, not long after making that decision it dropped a valve. I had a 69 RAIV stick car (see my post in 66 GTO for sale for a better description and pic).
I do have a 94 S10 Blazer with a class 3 hitch, trans cooler etc. If you had a trailer, I could pull yours. I am in Victoria.
Are there cars for sale at the run?

Ummm. Having towed my '67 parts car home (3.5 miles) and owning a '97 S-10 Blazer, I'd not recommend using that truck to tow a 3500 pound car. You're pushing the Class 3 rating of 3300 pounds as well as I can guarantee that you'll be replacing that 4L60e transmission after a 6 hour drive. I know. I did.

Mark,
There are a few cars for Sale the Tiger Run. I've seen some nice ones to psrts cars. Also, Marc Neary will be there and he usually has a couple for sale at any given time.
What are you looking for? I'm looking into getting a '66, total rust/dent free hard top, was originally a tri-power M21 4spd, 3.90 rear car, has all but original WS block. In primer ready for paint. If I get it, I may turn it into a GeeTO Tiger mate to Jim Wangers GeeTO. It was red/black interior. If I keep it which is the way I'm leaning after seeing it again tonight, I'll be selling my '67 HO, M21 4spd GTO convert, but Mark D has first opt for that car. It's kinda rare puppy as a convert with those options but this '66 is NICE! Decisions, decisions ???
After we all line up and kick you indabutt for selling your RAIV we'll take care of ya and find you something to be proud of. You're forgiven, woulda been more forgiven had you sold it to me though ;D Look forward to seeing ya.

Actually, with a trans cooler and class 3 hitch the towing capacity on the 94 S10 with the 4.3 litre Vortech is 5500 pounds (I called GM Canada and verified this shortly after purchasing the truck). You can verify this yourself at:
http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/chevrolet/s10blazer/4drtahoewagon/specs.html
The 4L60E is the same tranny used in the full-size trucks (Tahoe with the 350 ci engine, not the Suburban) and should be up to the task. Perhaps your tranny had other issues?
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Al,
Well I like all GTO years but if I had to pick a favourite it would be the 66 (I love the louvered taillights and parking lights in the grill, and the interior is very nice). Next up would be the 69, then the 67 and 70 would tie. Depends on the car, the stance, the options etc. I prefer hardtops.
Has to have a manual tranny. I used to be a stickler for numbers matching or correct cars but not anymore. A 66 with RAIV performance would be the ticket. Maybe an aftermarket tranny like a Richmond 5 speed. Then even with 3.90s or 4.33s out back it would be OK on the highway.
That 66 you mentioned sounds nice. If you pass on it let me know!
Hey, I just thought of something, if Mark buys your car maybe he'd sell his Judge to me? :o

Hey this is all gettin' too good!
Musical GTO's!
Anyway Mark, the sheer experience of Tiger Run warrants going even without a GTO.
I have been every year since 1992. I drove a company car one year, my Ram 2500 another, & my 69 RAIII Trans Am another. The rest I drove or trailered GTO's. So you don't need a GOAT to have a blast & another thing, you'll have a great time riding shotgun around the town of Bend in many different member's GTO's!
So if you can get the time off, GO!
We'll be there! 8) 8) 8)

I'm certainly up for it but getting the time off is one thing I'm not sure I can do ??? Plus I may need additional time off to get to Seattle or Tacoma from Victoria and back again.
And they might think I'm a terrorist or something and not let me across the border :-/

Hello I just called the Bend Riverside Motel the number is 541-389-2363. I made reservations and a queen room for 2 people was $54.00 plus tax. I asked if there was a group rate for the Legends club. He said that was the special rate.
( you think) LOL
Any way just in case someone else needed the number.

Sounds like the Riverside is filling up,and according to goatweed there are no 2 rooms left. There is a brand new motel about a mile north of the Riverside called sugar mountain inn,541-330-5998.It is a multi stoy unit with 300 or so rooms, only been open for 2 months,It is about a 1/4 mile from the bend river mall.since this motel is new it is not in our phone book,so chance of getting a room late is very good!!

ok...got online and found the correct number for the Marriot Fairfield Inn...it's 541-318-1747. I got my reservations and the gal said they had about 20 rooms left for the weekend...but they were going fast. So if you haven't gotten them, do so.
