Okay, so this will be the thread where we post get-together (GTG) info.
I am proposing these dates, and I know there was talk of a monthly event but that is just a bit too frequent for me to plan...so I am going on the quarterly proposal right now.
Saturday, March 15th, go karting @ Champs in Redmond.
http://www.champskarting.com/us.htm
the club should fund the racing and members cover their own food/drink.
Saturday, June 21st, bowling @ Acme Bowl in Tukwila (by Southcenter Mall)
http://www.acmebowl.com/
the club should fund the lanes for bowling and members cover food/drink
Saturday, Aug 16th or Aug 23rd, no idea what do to do...hopefully something up north...maybe an Everett location...does anyone have any suggestions?
My thought is that whoever shows up gets covered...no reservations...unless we want specified areas all to ourselves...then it'll take a little more planning.
I don't know how you all feel about bringing guests but I think each member should be allowed to bring one guest that's covered and any others pay their own way? What do you think? I just want to see some serious but positive competition...
Are there any objections to Saturdays?
Let's make this happen! I'll put mailers out about if people think it's a good idea and we're okay with the dates.

A Drive-In movie would be cool!

I think that sounds like it should work. I'd be down for the first two at least.

I think that Geniva and I might be up for some bowling. it's always fun to get together and do something not exactly car related. The Go Karting is a no brainer. I'll be there as well.
Couple of suggestions. Don't know how they rent the place out or if they charge by laps. We ought to let everyone get a few laps in to get a feel for things. If they can monitor lap times we can bracket it to get the top drivers to run off for a trophy or plaque at the end of the evening.
Bowling, I'm already handicapped being left handed. Plus I go bowling every two years whether I need it or not. Regardless, both events sound like fun.
If the bowling works I suggest the August date to include bowling or a nice Saturday evening cruise to Arlington or something. I believe they have some old WW II aircraft there and maybe we can do a photo opt with the cars. We can run up highway 9 instad of I-5.
Just some ideas.

I'm down with the karting and bowling!
For Saturday, Aug 16th or Aug 23rd, how about a cruise to Arlington to check out the WW II aircraft, then back south to the Puget Park Drive In in South Everett?

I'll make a call to the airfield in Arlington and see if we can set something up. Maybe they'll have some specialty aircraft in form out of town.
keep your eyes open for a response.

Before we get to carried away on August 16th, remember that the WWF All Pontiac Show & Shine is August 17th at Country Village Shops and there is a BBQ drive in at Clyde Revord Motors Saturday afternoon beforehand.

Good point, Brent. Can you add those 2 dates to the calendar (http://www.northwestlegends.com/forums/calendar.php)?

I'll start working to set up the first two events and get a mailer out with the dates. I will use the August 23rd date so anyone making calls please use that date.

I'd like to propose another get-together: Bowling Sat, Feb 23rd, at Kenmore Lanes. We would arrive at 9pm, which is when their leagues are done. We don't need reservations, it's 1st come 1st served.
Who's in?

Karting looks like a blast. I'll have to get some tips from Mike on racing.
I just hope my car will be ready to drive to some of these events.

Here is some info...please provide feedback either in this thread or IM or email me...
http://www.k1speed.com/race_packages.asp - I like this idea...we need at least 8 people and it's $45 per person and there is a qualifier run (14 lap) and then an official race. (I'd like to see that we have at least 8 responders...)
http://www.k1speed.com/hours_pricing.asp - regular pricing and hours
The three races for $50 might be fun...
http://www.k1speed.com/track_layouts.asp - layout of the Redmond track at the bottom of the page
Thoughts?
I'd like to get this set up ASAP so I can get a mailer out to the club with this and a 'watch for' the two other events to follow.

I'm down for whatever works best.
The one we did last year up in Marysville we rented the whole place for a couple hours and everyone got all the driving they could stand.
If we go bowling, will there be any beer frames ? ;)

I'll kart and bowl. There's a pizza restuarant next door to Kenmore lanes. They have really good pizza, Mia Romas is the place, maybe before bowling?

I brought this up at last night's meeting, and there was some interest, so it is ON! I hope we get an even bigger turnout than the Kenmore Lanes event. Come on you southenders!

8pm just might be doable. We have the Pedders Event that day at NORPAC, but I imagine we'll be back in time. Will someone be reserving parking for us? That place fills up completely on weekends.
