Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(January 5th, 2008)

MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:20 pm by Brandon Warren, the new President of the Northwest GTO Legends, at Bison Creek, in Burien, WA.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Guests were recognized, including “Mel” and Gary Major’s friend Darren and his wife.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella read the December 1st Secretaries Report. Last month’s minutes will be summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site by Amber Engen.

TREASURES REPORT:

Amber Engen gave the Treasures Report, with a beginning balance of $5,628.10 and an ending balance of $5,233.81.

CAR TALK SESSION:

- Denny Deal talked about his carb problems. He had the center carb of his 65 Tri-power rebuilt, but had problems and sent it back. Got a replacement, had problems with that one at first, but made some adjustments and Denny says it runs great now. Denny did caution the membership about getting carb rebuilds from Performance Years and other providers.

- Gary Majors suggested bringing your carbs to him when you want them rebuilt. Gary says he has a carb guru with a dyno. Gary says he is still seeing diaphragm and fuel pump problems with both alcohol and gas. Gary also talked about products from Canada that they are looking at, including “EOS”, 1 quart with an oil change to help with the “flat” lifter problem.

- Brent West says he sent his torque converter to Oregon to have it rebuilt.

- Mike Buzzard talked about lowering his 04 and inch all around. He also fixed his heater problems and installed gas shocks all around and is very pleased with the results.

OLD BUSINESS:

- Brandon Warren called for volunteers for the new 2009 Calendar Committee to get the new calendar efforts started.

- Brandon Warren reminded the membership of the new recent 2008 Club Officer elections: Brandon Warren - President, Mitch Bleitz – Vice President, Amber Engen – Treasurer Wally Santella - Secretary.

NEW BUSINESS:

- The 2007 Garage Tour was successfully conducted with stops at Kevin Reed’s garage in Kirkland, Mark DaCosta’s garage in Burien and Wally Santella’s shop in SeaTac. It was touch and go, when the caravan left Marks place in Burien and proceeded to Wally’s shop in SeaTac because of the falling snow. A lot cars parked at the top of Wally’s steep hill and guy’s walked down the street and some were also ferried down in Mike Santella’s 4-wheel drive Dodge. Pictures were taken of Jim Wangers and many of our members and printed out immediately with the help of Mark Bilyeu, his camera and printer. A good time was had by all, thanks to Kevin, Mark and Wally for their support for this year’s 2007 Garage Tour.

- Gary Tischer’s girl friend, Jimi Hunt, issues and invitation to the membership for 4 couples to join them in their El Salvador Beach Rental. The cost would be $400/couple for a 7 day stay. Jimi says interested parties can get more details by logging on to www.elsalvadorbeachrental.com

- A motion was made by Amber Engen and passed by the membership in attendance that the Club subsidizes the participation of at least 4 club members (and their cars) in this year’s Seattle Roadster Show.

- The idea was raised and discussed by the membership of having all members of our Northwest GTO Legends club become mandatory members of the GTOAA. The general idea is that the Club would apply the annual membership fee of $35 to the GTOAA membership fee and charge an extra $10 for the Northwest GTO Legends membership fee. All existing NW GTO Legend members who are also GTOAA members would be assessed a pro-rated fee depending the quarter their current anniversary date falls into and be brought up to January 1st 2009. All new members, who join our club in 2008, would be charged a pro-rated NW GTO Legends membership fee for 2008 and beginning January 1st, 2009 their dues would be set at $45 and they would become members in our Club and the GTOAA. All existing members of our Club who are in good standing, and who not currently members of the GTOAA, will pay their new dues of $45 in January of 2009 and would become members of both our Club and the GTOAA. The membership decided that more information was needed, before making a final decision on this idea and since the Secretary is responsible for completing the annual GTOAA Chapter Survey and for renewing all Club Officer’s GTOAA dues, he will discuss this possible action with the GTOAA person responsible for membership renewal and present his findings to the membership at the next Club meeting.

- Brent West talked to the membership about participating in the annual Port of Seattle Fathers Day show. Brent thinks this is an interesting event with a mix of cars, boats and other things and has volunteered to solicit interest in member participation and act as the event coordinator for this show if he gets enough response.

- Amber Engen proposed to the membership that the Club hold two social event gatherings this year, outside the normal car clinic/car show/car racing events. Amber suggested something like bowling, or barbeques, etc. It was agreed that the membership would think about this idea and maybe post some suggestions on the web site and discuss it further at the next Club meeting.

50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and somebody won.

MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 6:15 PM, by Brandon Warren. Next meeting will held on Saturday, February 2nd, at 5:00pm, at the Bison Creek in Burien, WA.
