I just got the latest club newsletter in the mail. I do not mind being a GTOAA member as I have been one for about 12 years now. I'm just curious if the new NWL requirement considers the fact that there are some club members that do not need to be signed up for the GTOAA in this manner? Are the club dues going to stay the same for those who are already GTOAA members?

The NWL dues will go down to $10 to compensate for making the GTOAA membership madatory adding the $35 GTOAA dues to the yearly dues, making the total dues for both $45. For those that are already members of the GTOAA it will be a reduction of your yearly total for both of $15. For those that are not members of the GTOAA yet, it will mean a yearly increase of dues of $20 but you would be a member of GTOAA and get the benefits of that. This will become mandatory as of Jan 1, 2009. NWL will adjust the GTOAA billing period to match the NWL billing period of JAN 1, and you pay the dues to NWL and it will take care of both clubs, with NWL taking care of paying GTOAA.for all members. I hope that answers your question, if not ask . One of the officers can probably answer better than me.

I think he was asking about non-GTO owner members. I was going to bring this up at the meeting saturday and suggest the board address this issue. It seems if you are a non gto owner/member then the dues would be the regular amount ($25). This way they are still doing their part to support the club insurance wise. Any other ideas?

The dues for NWL for 2008 are still $25 for all members. You don't have to own a GTO to be a member in either NWL or GTOAA. If you are not currently a member of GTOAA and WANT to join before Jan 2009 you can join through NWL at a prorated amount for 2008, or you can wait until Jan 2009 when it will be madatory to join GTOAA to be a member of NWL, you still won't need to own a GTO to do that.
For all GTOAA chapters, the GTOAA requires 100% of the chapters members to be members of the GTOAA, we have been "grandfathered" in up to this point and only had to have 40% of our members to remain in good standing. As of Jan 2009 NWL is making it a requirement to be a member of the GTOAA in order to be a member of NWL and to make that less costly for it's members the NWL is reducing it's dues to $10 for 2009 and beyond. NWL will handle the registrations with GTOAA making both dues a "one stop shop" payment.

You don't have to own a GTO to be a member in either NWL or GTOAA.

The GTOAA provides the insurance for all of our non moving events in the amount of $2,000,000, making our events possible.

I have been a member of the Oregon Goat heard for a few more years than I have been a NWL member. I would like to maintain both club memberships. I already get the GTOAA membership with my Goat herd club dues. I guess I would like to suggest that possibly for some people in the same situation (I'm sure there are other NWL members that are also Goat Herd members) that the dues stay $25.00/year and you can take the extra $15.00 and forward it to your favorite charity instead of raising my dues to pay for something that I already have.

Not a big deal either way but I certainly do not need two GTOAA memberships.

That' a very good subject to bring up at tomorrows meeting. I don't think that scenario was thought of. Two GTOAA memberships would be silly, if not impossible. I think the main idea was to get 100% membership in the GTOAA. The lowering of NWL dues was to help compensate for the extra $35 that the GTOAA costs.

Doesn’t the Goatherders require their members to be GTOAA members too?

On another note, if anyone has concerns or questions and can't make the meeting, post them here and I will print them out and take to the meeting tomorrow. I think I'm going to be there. If not I'll call Wally and have him take them.

I'm sure that situation actually effects a few other NWL members as well. In my opinion, as long as you are a member of the GTOAA, you meet the requirements to be a NWL. I'm sure the club can work with these individuals to work out the situation. I would think the club in that situation would only require the $10 club fee from those people. Just my opinion on the situation...Thanks.
