Anyone have any suggestions for a reputable Auto Transport company? Covered or uncovered, (as long as I can cover the car?) Just trying to find some recommendations, and some competitive pricing.

Any info, tips or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, my 61 Slider roof Bug may be going to San Antonio, TX?) :(

Thanks - Brett!

The ls1gto forum has this http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154574&highlight=auto+transport and there are a few suggestions on those posts.

If you go to any of the car forums and do a search on auto transport you usually get a few hits.

My daughter shipped a Jetta from Seattle to Pensacola, FL about a year ago for about a thousand bucks. An enclosed trailer came to the house and picked it up. (Actually, they met her at a place near home where they could get the truck in because our neighborhood had too many sharp corners.) I forget the name of the company.

I've checked a couple forums I frequent... nothing concrete yet...

If you could check with her to see if she remembers the company, if you have a chance... that would be great!

Is your buddy working on his bug yet? :)

Thanks - Brett!

(Just checked and got 4 good leads from ls1GTO, Thanks - B!)

My brother used Intercity to get his GTO from Maryland. He was very happy with the service and results.

I used uship.com. It's not a company but more like an eBay for shipping needs.

I needed to ship my Lemans from Milton freewater Oregon to Kent wa. So from one side of the state to the other pretty much. The first time I put my "max" limit for how much I wanted to spend at $500. Of course I got $499 offers but over a week they were down to 300 bucks. So I tried to see how low I could go. I remade my ad and put my max at $300 and my "book now" at $250. Within a few hours someone booked it. I felt 250 was a good price. We talked and 3 days later he went and got the car for me. It was just a guy with a truck and open trailer. He dropped it off the next morning. I thought 250 was great considering the car didn't run and he picked it up and dropped it off so quickly.

I had a good experience with one guy, but there are alot of people on there so I am sure there are some bad eggs.

I'm using an outfit out of Florida - they're like most, a broker that sets up, locates and has the actual transport company coordinate the actual pick-up and delivery of your vehicle. Most of the headaches I've heard about were delays in either pick-up or delivery. I'll let you know how mine turns out. Of all of the people I've talked to this guy had some energy.

I'll be using one enclosed van for the 65' GTO (about $900.00) and one in an open trailer for my wife's 03' Toyota Camry (about $500.00) for shipment from here to Phoenix, AZ.

This will be happening in the next couple of weeks.

AllI can say is do your homework. I ended up using a company (broker) out of Florida that set up the carrier to take both my cars from Seattle to Phoenix. Wouldn't you know it the Camry got here just fine but the 65' had something spilled on the roof and hood.

The carrier Pacific Auto Delivery refused any responsibility (both cars were in an enclosed trailer). The broker, Mercury Auto transport got me their certificate of insurance so I had the insurance info to file a claim.

The insurance folks are working with me. Document the way the car is when it leaves your hands and do the same on the receiving end. If you have any issues, take photo's and sign the bill of lading with the additional damages that were not there when you gave the car to them. You'll still need to pay them, but you'll have the necessary documentation.

When you do set up the pickup with your broker, have them send you the carriers certificate of insurance. It's required, and if you run into any issues, at least you'll have the necessary insurance info.

I'll let you know how my claim works out.
