Solid State External Voltgage Regulators

I'm thinking of uprgrading to the Wells VR-715 electronic voltage regulator on my 69. This unit seems to have a good reputation going by what I read in the various forums and blogs.

Has anyone out there had personal experience with the Wells VR-715 unit ???

Any info regarding local suppliers, price and in-the-field experience would be greatfully accepted. Thanks

Hey Glen,

Thanks for the question! My mechanical regulator works fine, but it makes an annoying noise when it gets warm under the hood, so I just bought one at Autozone for $18. I'll install it soon and let you know how it works.

I installed the Wells VR-715 electronic voltage regulator on my '66 last night and it's working fine. The only problem I had before was an annoying noise, and that is gone now.
