Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(July 5th, 2008)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by Mitch Blietz, VP of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Bison Creek in Burien, WA, as Brandon Warren was absent, on vacation.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Kevin Sullivan who owns a 2005 blue GTO was introduced as a new member.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave the July 08 Secretaries Report. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
Mike Santella gave Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $5,607.44 and an Ending Balance of $5,677.44.
CAR TALK SESSION:
(1) John Pearson has a strut rod for a 04/05/06 GTO for $135.00
(2) Stephen Fafnis had a question about a pin that came out of his emergency brake and discussed this with the members.
(3) Gary Major talked to the membership about the lack of zinc with the changes that have been made to most commercial oil for passenger cars. This makes it difficult to break in new cam and sold lifters (flat tappets). The oil container will indicate “CM” after the weight. Without zinc phosphate in the oil, there is less protection from friction wear, and this is especially bad during engine break-ins. According to Gary, the fix is EOS oil supplement. Gary brings it in from Canada at $15/bottle. This is absolutely required for flat tappet engines.
(4) Dave Robertson talked about The Legend Returns, $25 at Borders.
OLD BUSINESS:
- MUSCLE CAR MEET: Mike Santella talked to the membership about having secured two major sponsors and that he will work on landing two minor sponsors before the meet.
- Jim Bozony made a request that we look into getting the pictures that were taken when people won their trophy awards at Tiger Run. Wally Santella and Mitch Bleitz will look into this.
- The Rainer Run will not be held this year, base on last year’s low participation. The will be a small informal gathering of people who will make the run on July 26 and information will be posted on the Club’s web site.
- John Bozony was recognized by the membership for taking the responsibility and making the effort to get a proper Club Newsletter out. Well done John.
NEW BUSINESS:
No new business was discussed.
50/50 Raffle: No 50-50 raffle was held.
MEETING ADJORNED:
Meeting was adjourned at 6.10 PM, by Mitch Bleitz. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek in Burien, on Saturday, August 2nd, at 5:00 PM.
