I'm doing research on Judge colors.I'm going to be breaking down each available color that the Judges came with ie:How were Orbit Orange,Polar White,Starlight Black ect.So far I've been doing this research for 7yrs. now.I know that Pontiac did'nt keep records on these colors. But with hard work and doing the research,I've been able to make some progress.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

That's great research! I do remember Jim Wangers saying that 89% of the Judges in 69 were Carousel Red. Keep us posted.

I don't know of any registry on Judges.

I have an out of print book called the GTO Recognition Guide in which it states all the available colors of Judges & the corresponding stripe combos they came with from the factory.
No production numbers that back them up though, it would be excellent to have that information.

My 70 is Atoll Blue/Black interior, I know fellow member Thor's 70 is Palladium Silver/Red interior which is unlike any I've ever seen.

Keep us informed. 8)

Welcome to the board Tim,
In Thomas DeMauro's book,
ORIGINAL PONTIAC GTO,THE RESTORER'S GUIDE 1964-1974,
you will find that starting in '70, the author has a breakdown by color for GTOs produced that year and in subsequent years. There is no breakdown by color for Judges. One could make a rough estimate of the 70 and later Judge color breakdowns. Orbit Orange and Mint Turquoise are the rarest colors in '70
We may never know for sure how many in what color ;).......

Thanks guys for the info.I have all the info you guys provided.I 've have spoken to JJ over the phone about my research.I have the book Original Pontiac GTO by Thomas DeMauro.I have a library of GTO books and this book is the best yet.My research is far from being done but I can tell you that the most popular color so far for the 70 Judge is Polar White and for 71 is Lucerne Blue and of course everybody knows that Carousel Red is for 69.The color break down in Thomas DeMauro's book is both GTO and Judge combine.

Hi guys I'm looking to buy a 70 GTO and I came across a 70 GTO for sale on the internet. My interests are in GTO's,Leman's,GT-37 and GT cars,I'm very knowledgeable on these cars.Ever once in awhile there's a car that show's up that we did'nt know exsisted and I'm not sure if this one is one of those cars. The guy say's that its a 70 GTO but it has a 70 lemans front end.I've seen pics of the car and the car is very nice.It has the YS 400 350hp and all of the goodies:PS,PDB,AC ect.I ask the guy if he could send me the vin# and he refuses to.He keeps saying that it says GTO on the title,to me that does'nt mean that its a true GTO.The only year that you could a GTO with the front crome bumber was 68(2,108 made)Any thoughts??

Don't give in. If it's a real 70 GTO (24237 or 24267) he should have no problem giving you the vin. THere's no reason not to. It could be a real GTO but just have the LeMans front end on it due to an accident. Either way no 70 came with anything other than the Endura bumper. If it is a GTO with a different front end price it accordingly. It's going to cost you a pretty penny to buy GTO fenders, a bumper, grills etc, to make it look like it should. Ask him WHY it has a Lemans front end on it. He may admit to a previous accident or he could have bought it that way and doesn't know the difference. Either way, IMO, the car shouldn't be worth as much as a "correct" GTO. There are tons of GTO's out there for sale, I might look elsewhere given the situation.

Tim,

I'm with Unknown.
If the gentleman wants to sell the "GTO" why he should not have an issue giving you the VIN #. This is almost a given in today's world of Musclecar trading, to aquire the PHS Docs would be a no brainer prior to a purchase. One would need the VIN for this.
Maybe it's a GT-37 or something who knows. I would not buy the car without seeing the PHS Docs regardless.

1968 was the only year that Pontiac offered the Chrome nose (Endura Delete) on a GTO for a short while as for a few initial production weeks the factories were having adhesion problems on the paint with the Endura nose so they built them with the Chrome nose until the problem was fixed.

Let us know, tell this guy if he won't let you see the VIN# & he wants to sell the car, he needs to put the crack pipe down & get with reality.
