68 trim question

Have to ask--in 68 --GTO, was there an option for door gaurd trim?? The riveted on chrome with a plastic color molded filler strip, on the front fender, door, rear quarter frontsection. I've heard yes and no-- but is it in print somewhere? Or coded on the data plates/vin#??

I don't think so.
I think the only option was door edge guards which my 68 has.

The protective trim was a dealer installed item only,not factory installed!
