What *shade* of red is it? The photo's a little dark but it looks as though it might be close to my GP.

Man you shoulda painted it PINK! You know pink is your favorite color!

Is our order in from Ames? Did anything from M. Neary end up on your door step? Better call them we have t-14 days to go.

BTW, the red *looks* similar to the red on my GP--at least in photos. I really like the red.

Hey Amos, Looks grreat!! Too bad the sphinxter's gone though. I heard through the grapevine that Schleprock Racing might have been interested in it. Is that right, Dave??? :) Anyway, hope Kapowsin Engineering and you have the mill installed by now, so we can light that candle when I get back. See ya later, Al

6 little illusive flywheel to crank case bolts have kept the engine from going in :( So it's another phone call to AMES to talk to Amos about sending me smore stuff, overnight if possible.

Anyone have a set?

It's a fact, the REDster is not going to make it to Tiger Run. :'( I guess it'll save me from having to pry someone into it to drive it down.

Hey guys have you tried Tacoma screws for the grade 8 bolts you need or have tried Pacific National Auto parts on 40th and pacific . I know for a fact that Mr. Gasket makes fly bolts in a set for Pontiacs. You can even try Southside Brake and Clutch for the bolts or Promax on 56th and south tacom way. You know that ames is not the only place. ::)

Flyingtiger
05-16-2003, 02:09 AM
Be careful using generic bolts, grade 8 or otherwise, as only specific flywheel/crank bolts have the proper head thickness. Too thick a bolt head will result in insufficient or no clearance withclutch/ pressureplate assembly and will damage both. (Got that T-shirt).

Your going to let 6 bolts let you from putting the engine in? Just go to a tranny shop and get the correct bolts you need, they might just give you the bolts for free. :o

GTO_AL
05-16-2003, 08:39 AM
LOL, lot's of great advice and thanks :) However, Though I've called most those shops that were mentioned, I didn't get all of them on the phone but was getting tired of the same answer. I tryed multiple tranny shops in the area, ProMax (4-5days), Tacoma Screw (same) and even Hiat Pontiac (7-9 days) and nothing found. They're a 1/2 inch bolt with 20 count fine treads and of coarse a thin head.
I made the order today for AMES, only $11 bucks compared to ProMax's $23 and of course both are plus shipping. That's OK though, I needed a new linkage kit of the tranny as well.
So, when I get back from T/R, I'll dig back in. Not to worry, let's me have a chance to get Plum ready for Tiger Run. Have new bumpers stuff to put on.
Al

Hey guys I hate to break it to you, but Mr. gasket makes the right bolt and you can buy them at 40th and Pacific; Pacific National Auto Parts. I bought them a few years ago for my car. They say fly wheel bolts on the package, so they are specific to the application for future problems. Mr. Gasket makes an assortment of bolts for all applications including specific ones like what is going on with your car Al. Sorry it has put you behind the 8ball.

Flyingtiger
05-16-2003, 12:46 PM
Pietro's right on Al. Mr. Gasket does sell the right kit. The parts house he mentions can probly get them within hours if they don't already have them in stock. Talk to Gus. Good luck.

Well, that's the one I didn't call. Perhaps I'll get some on Monday anyway and put the others aside for when I build the HO, I'll need a set then too. Anyone up for putting in a 4spd and an engine? LOL just kidding, I'm thinking that I need to get the plum ready for Tiger Run.
Thanks Linguini_R. That's 'smoklin' info. Where were you yesterday morning? May have had the engine in by now. LOL ya right, I needed the shifter linkage anyway so that would have been just another set back LOL. Lots of fun though, this car's going to be sweet ;)

You know that Pacific National Auto Parts is open all weekend . You might be able to go and get your bolts. I know that the performance wherehouse is open tommorrow til 1:00, so thats plenty enough time to call National and see,if they don't have them on the shelf ,or they can either get them for you same day or you can drive down the street and pick them up at the performance house on center street.

Those be two GREAT photo's. Let's plan a day and get some cars out to both sites and perhaps others.

Can I use one of those for the calendar.

PS. I only have 10 photos at this point, so if no more come in or nobody wants to go cruising then there won't be a calendar this year.

Oh and 2 of the ten would be voted out if there were others to compare to.

theJUDGE
08-22-2003, 04:54 AM
Al,

We go right by there (Navy Ships) when we go from the BOP event in Bremerton to the Beistline's house for the annual Burrito & Chili feed Chuck does every year.

It would be a good idea for those interested to stop by there on the way to do a photo shoot.

I also think that each month of the calendar should have a different background for each car, so we won't have a calendar full of Mt. Rainier, as well as Navy ships.
Variety is key, which brings me to the next point, I am surprized you only have 10 photos sent in so far. Do members want to do the calendar???

Keep in mind also, the grass & wooded background at the Musclecar Meet provide a great backdrop as well, plus many member's cars will be there. Charge your batteries that day.

I will Email you several pics of my GTOs right now so you have something from me. 8)

Thanks for your efforts.
