Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(October 4th, 2008)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by Brandon Warren, President of the Northwest GTO Legends Club, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
We had three new guests from Ft. Lewis, Pete Peterson, Devlin Smith and James Godkin, who were introduced to the club attendees.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave the September 08 Secretaries Report. Last month’s minutes were summarized, and details posted on the Club’s web site.
TREASURES REPORT:
Mike Santella gave Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $7,873.90 and an Ending Balance of $7,564.32.
CAR TALK SESSION:
(1) John Lund has finished the chassis on his GTO and is now working on the body. He says he will have to do a lot metal repair work under the car.
(2) Mike Buzard talked about how he improved the gas mileage on his new GTO. Mike also talked about Don Crenshaw and the bad experience he had at Evergreen Motors restoring his GTO. Don brought his car over to Mike’s house and Mike found a number of problems that he helped Don to resolve.
(3) Danny Nunez, who was a member of the Club back in 1988, talked about his 67 and the help he received from Gary and Stefan to re-assemble his car.
(4) Gary Major spoke to the membership about anti-freeze and the need to replace it at least every 2 years.
OLD BUSINESS:
- ANNUAL XMAS PARTY - Mike Santella updated the membership about the latest plans for this year’s annual Xmas weekend, which is scheduled for December 6th including:
(1) Griots Tech Talk Session with Jim Wangers.
(2) Visit to Griots private car collection.
(3) Xmas Meeting/Banquet/Awards/Xmas Give Exchange.
(4) Visit to the LeMay Car Collection in Tacoma
- XMAS DINNER – John Bozony presented menu options to the membership. The membership voted for a buffet style Xmas dinner.
NEW BUSINESS:
- GROITS and JIM WANGERS: Mike Santella addressed the membership about this years plans for our annual Xmas Party and the fact that Jim Wangers likes to participate and that in discussions that Mike has had with Griots, they have expressed an interest in having Jim participate in a Tech Talk session that they are willing to host. In addition, Mike talked about including a special visit to the LeMay Car Museum as part of the activities that weekend. The membership agreed to invite Jim Wangers to join us in our “Garage Tour” and “Xmas Party”. Confirmation with Jim needs to completed, and there will be more discussion on this subject at next months meeting.
- CLUB NEWSLETTER APPRECIATION: The membership took time out to recognize the effort of John Bozony to pick up the responsibility for the Club’s Newsletter as John has published 3 editions so far this year – great job John!
- INVITATION TO LONNIE SANTELLA – The membership voted to extend an offer to pay Lonnie Santella’s air fare to fly up and MC the award presentations at this year’s Xmas Party. Lonnie’s dad, Wally will communicate this offer to Lonnie and report back to the membership of Lonnie’s decision to accept or decline.
50/50 Raffle: Ted Knapp won $31 and $31 dollars went to the Club.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:50 PM, by Brandon Warren. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on November 1st, at 5:00 PM.
