Just wanted to say a big thanks to all who put this weekend together. Especially Mike S! Although I wasn't able to attend the Griot's session, the banquet and gift exchange was really fun. It was great to see some old faces I haven't seen in awhile and really great to see our webmaster back home joining us again. Welcome back Lonnie! Your award presentation was hilarious! The weather cooperated and we even had a good turnout of muscle in the parking lot that was barracaded off especially for us. Great job all the way around.
Also, a big thanks to Brandon for a great year at the helm - we all appreciate you taking the time to lend your services. Also, big thanks to Carolyn for her great efforts on getting calendar together. This is a time consuming task, so all should know the time it takes to collect, sort, and publish. Great shots in the calendar! Thanks to the other officers and members for all their time and energy putting events and newsletters together. John thanks for getting a newsletter out again.
Sunday - LEMAYZING is all I can say. Hopefully we can get some pics posted for those to get a glimpse of an amazing collection. Harold Lemay is the King Of Car Collecting! Steve Martin Thanks for arranging rides to and from the facilites with the fully detailed school bus! The tour started at the Lemay home where we wandered through barns and outbuildings, some two stories tall , all with cars and memorabilia. What a treat. Then back to the Marymount Academy where the current museum is for lunch break and then a tour of the facility. Oh man - this old school is amazing, built in 1921 and was originally an all boys Catholic Military academy. Harold purshased the 80+ acres site in the 80's and transformed into the place it is. First was the big building with some cool Pontiacs along with over a hundered cars. Then into the room that housed at one time the stage. Then into the what I dug the most was the old gymnasium. It was like the movie Hoosiers, the bleachers had cars on them, and the basketball hoops were still down. So many neat cars including an original Tucker. Then into the room that used to be the pool, covered over with cars. The shower room even has a car in it! Then down to the truck room which was downstairs and was once the gun shooting gallery.
It was way cool and hopefully you call all check it out sometime. What a tremendous collection!
