Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(January 3rd, 2009)


MEETING OPENED:

Meeting called to order at 5:10 pm by our newly elected President, Mike Santella, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.

GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
There were no guests or new members at the meeting.

SECRETARIES REPORT:

Wally Santella gave the January 09 Secretaries Report. December’s meeting minutes were summarized; the details posted on the Club’s web site and reported to this meeting’s membership.

TREASURES REPORT:

Judy Booth, this years newly elected Club Treasurer, gave the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $7,222.56 and an Ending Balance of $6,321.75.

OLD BUSINESS:

- NEW CLUB OFFICERS – Mike Santella reminded the membership of our newly elected officers for 2009:
President: Mike Santella
Vice President: Mitch Bleitz
Treasurer: Judy Booth
Secretary: Wally Santella

- CLUB DUES RENEWAL – Wally Santella gave the membership an update on the “duel club membership” initiative. GTOAA dues for all NE GTO Legends members that had paid their 2009 dues (prior to the end of December 2008) were forwarded to Beth Butcher at the GTOAA for processing. Club members should expect to receive their copy of the “Legend” and their new GTOAA Membership card in the mail, sometime in January. Dues for both clubs, for all active members, have been synced to January 1st.

- GTOAA MEMBERSHIP VALUES - Mike Santella talked to the membership about the value for individual members and for our NW GTO Legends chapter for being members of the GTOAA. Supporting the GTOAA means supporting the same values and purposes that we support in our local club, but at a national level. The technical information, parts and service sources, information about all related events around the country, which are provided through the GTOAA’s monthly Legend publication, are important to our purposes. Our Club also benefits from the cost-free liability insurance coverage for all non-moving club events, which was increase from $1 million to $2 million dollars this year.

- 2009 CLUB CALENDAR – Carolyn Warren reminded the membership about the availability of our 2009 Club Calendars at $12 each.

- LANCE LAMBERT DVD’s – John Bozony asked about the status of the master DVD that was produced by Lance Lambert when he covered our 2008 Muscle Car Meet. Mike Santella explained that we had received a DVD from Lance but that it was damaged and therefore would not be useful for make copies for our members and was returned to Lance. He will cut a new master and send it to the Club, and we are currently waiting for that.


NEW BUSINESS:

- NEW CLUB FUNCTIONS/EVENTS/FEATURES - Mike Santella spoke to the membership about his plans as President for 2009 to add some new club events and functions. Mike plans to invite a guest speaker each month to talk about something related to fixing/restoring/run our GTO cars.

- TREASURER AUTHORITY – Mike Santella raised a motion to the membership to authorize Judy Booth, our newly elected Treasurer for 2009 to have check signing authority on the Club’s Bank Account.

- JANUARY CLUB NEWLETTER – Brandon Warren announced to the membership that he was publishing a Club Newsletter for January. Brandon gave out a few copies at the meeting and will have others mailed to the membership.

- BISON CREEK PREPARATIONS – Mike Santella talked to the membership about preparations that have been made by the new owners at the Bison Creek where we will hold our February Club meeting. Lonnie Santella will update the Club web site to reflect directions to the Bison Creek in Burien.

SHOP TALK:
- Steve Martin has finished the rebuild on his 76 Firebird. He says he needs a valley cover for his 76 400 engine
- Wally Santella talked about the progress that he and Mark Bilyeu have made finishing the update work on their B&S shop. They have finished new down-draft duct work in the paint booth, 28 new enclosed lights, new work bench and newly stripped floor. Just a little more work to be done before they start restoring Wally’s 64 and Mark’s 65.
- Mike Buzzard has been working on his 69, installed new steel rods. He is also working on the muffler system, which is from a 2004, and he is not finished with that yet.
- Pat Murphy put on a new whiskey tango splitter on his 04 GTO.
- Dennis Babcock worked on his 1969 El Comino this summer. He added 4 wheel disk brakes, a new stabilizer and installed a 350.

50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and Ann Santella won $30 and $30 went to the Club.

MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Bison Creek Pizza in Burien on February 7th, at 5:00 PM.
