Northwest Legends Club Meeting Minutes
(May 2nd, 2009)
MEETING OPENED:
Meeting called to order at 5:15 pm by our President, Mike Santella, at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, WA.
GUESTS & NEW MEMBERS:
Mike introduced this month’s guests, Greg Turk, who has a 66 convertible, Mike Hurst, who owns a 04, and Don Porsek, who is joint the club and has a 68 GTO that’s in a frame-off process and a 69 Firebird.
SECRETARIES REPORT:
Wally Santella gave the Mayl 09 Secretaries Report. February’s meeting minutes were summarized; the details posted on the Club’s web site and reported to this meeting’s membership.
TREASURES REPORT:
Judy Booth presented the Treasures Report, announcing a Beginning Balance of $3,573.39 and an Ending Balance of $3,294.37.
CLUB CORRESPONDENCE:
There was no Club correspondence for this meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
- CLUB’S NON-PROFIT STATUS – Mike Santella updated the membership that the Club’s “Non-Profit” status has been restored.
- NEW CLUB APPAREL – After sending out another Club Newsletter, with a tear-out page for members to vote on their choices for new club apparel, completed sheets were gathered at the meeting and will be tallied and the results reported at next months meeting. The results will be given to Brad Barrie and we will make a final decision on what apparel he will make up for sale.
- SPRING CAR CLINIC – Denny Deal gave the Club an update on this year’s Spring Car Clinic. There were 14 cars that turned out, and barbequed hamburgers were had by all.
- CAR CORRAL EVENT – Tom Willett provided the membership with another update on this event and generally promoted our attendance in this show. The membership responded by voting to purchase 8 tickets (at $25/each) and Tom immediately took a raise of hands and gave 5 away at the meeting.
- LAST YEAR’S NW MUSCLE CAR MEET COVERAGE – Mike Santella updated the membership again on Mark Bilyeu’s ongoing efforts to produce DVD copies of Lance Lambert’s coverage of last year’s NW Muscle Car Meet. Mark has 50 copies that are available to any interested members.
NEW BUSINESS:
- TIGER RUN 2009 - Mike Santella reminded the membership on this year’s annual Tiger Run event, which is schedule over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Mike reiterated that, as usual, a group would form at the McDonalds near I5 & 512, at 8:00am and caravan to Oregon to the event
- GTO DECALS – Mike Hurst has decals for his GTO and suggests other members do the same.
- CLUB LICENSE PLATES – Last month, John Bozony showed the membership the results of a special project that he as been working on to produce show quality Northwest GTO Legends license plates. John made one with a white background and one with a black background and sold a number of sets to the members at $10/each. John is now planning to take orders for another 25 plates and then order a run. Interested parties should place their orders with John.
- DYNO DAYS – Don McLaughlin talked to the membership about “Dyno-Days”, which is put on by Turbo Technologies, Inc. and for $30, you get a first-pull dyno reading.
GUEST SPEAKER OF THE MONTH:
There was no Guest Speaker this month.
SHOP TALK:
(1) Tom Willett talked about parking management at this year’s NW Muscle Car Meet.
(2) Mike Santella talked about the perceived difficulty of securing trophy sponsorships this year. Mike called for volunteers to help him with this year’s effort.
50/50 Raffle: A 50/50 raffle was held and Rob Robinson won $58 and $58 went to the Club.
MEETING ADJORNED:
The Club’s Business Meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM, by Mike Santella. Next meeting will be held at the Great American Casino in Tukwila, on June 6th, at 5:00pm.
